The Nordstrom Leith poly track pants arrived. I ordered my usual size to aim for a relaxed but not super slouchy fit. So, I pulled out half my closet to see what might go.
In case anyone is considering: The pants are full length on me. The ankle zip fit is pretty snug & tapered, so the result is the gathering effect at the calf—so, scrunch, but above-ankle scrunch. In a couple of the pics I show one leg zipped & one partially unzipped. Unzipped the leg will fall lower on the foot/shoe and so this provides a kind of style adjustment feature. Despite the dreaded elastic waist, the waistband is wide and stitched down plus the adjustable drawstring. Amongst elastic waist styles, I find that more wearable and flattering than a simple drawstring through a casing.
For me these would be smart casual/casual and not-work. I expect the light poly fabric to be for mild spring and fall—not mid-summer. I wonder could you layer tights for season extension or would get static cling problem?
I show mostly flats to give the worst-case scenario on shortening the leg line. I have to be able to wear them with low heel and closed toe in order to get enough use out of them.
#1 AT blue dot blouse and 2 different color Tahari-TJ Maxx reptile flats of the same style (maybe over-did last year trying to get some interesting but comfortable flats)
#2 White cotton sweater/2 shoes
#3 Reptile ruffle front blouse with pant ankles zipped/unzipped. Ancient black flats I resurrected this fall as they evoke smoking slipper and are so comfortable
#4 AT taupe silk shirt
#5 & 10 Boxy sweater w-w/o animal print scarf. Scarf volume looks a little overwhelming so can try narrower.
#7 Wedge sandals for different effect. BR metallic T and WH/BM rayon moto. Sandals may be dated already? Still I’m more likely to be able to wear some kind of a wedge shoe for longer leg-line than a hoochie pump look. I’d like to use these ‘cause I’ve got ‘em, and not buy a shoe just for these pants.
#8 Changeup to lace pants this time, with same toppers
#9 Sleeveless ruffle top with fuchsia blazer.
What do you think? I think I will wear these and see how I feel. Haven't even pulled out colorful T's and such to try. Does this help anyone else make a decision on these or similar pants?
Also, I’m going to a CA resort hotel next weekend for a professional conference. One “event” is a dinner—typically buffet/resort -casual—the venue hasn’t been announced so I’m not sure if will be set up inside the hotel or poolside. Temps warm days but cooler nights. Could you see something like the fuchsia jacket/track pants outfits working? Usually I feel compelled to aim for lighter "resort" colors & tans, creams and my conference day wear is currently aimed that way. Other folks will be guy docs in khakis and lady docs will be in a variety of things, not always predictable.
Thanks for any comments!
