I was only able to stay for breakfast and one store (Nordstrom Rack) but found a few goodies. All black & white!

Sanctuary travel vest -- can I wear this AS a shirt, as in the pics with shorts?

Charles Jourdan gladiator sandals -- love at first sight, but now at home I can feel one of the leather knots or grommet on my big toe...try to fix it somehow, or return with sadness?

Cole Haan loafer -- also love, but with more wear at home I know it will scrape the back of my heel. Do you all use Body Glide or moleskin for this, or return if a shoe does that? I've always been a stickler and returned, but I really love these...

Gibson black knit blazer -- I've needed to replace my too-big Gibson that I wore the heck out of, but didn't like the recent Gibsons. Love this one!

Also bought a white and black Tahari blazer but I'm returning it. I won't wear it. Tahari blazers are the kiss of death for me! They fit me really well, but I've hardly worn every one I've bought.

I wish I could've stayed the rest of the day so I could hear Angie's advice to everyone else!!

The jacket! It is just perfect! Took my breath way especially with the grey maxi. Too lovely!

The only question I feel qualified to answer is the one about the loafers. The heel is the easiest thing to fix, I think. 3 options. I have never used body glide, so that may be a 4th. If you don't have a shoe stretcher, a cobbler can do it for you, just focusing on the part that's the issue. Second option is to use one of stickable pad inserts in the heel. These provide cushion so the top of the shoe heel doesn't rub against your skin. Third option is to slip in a removable Dr Scholl's heel insert. These will lift the back of my foot just enough that the back and sides don't rub against my heel or ankles.

I think you look wonderful in all of these, but I'm a total sucker for those loafers!

Love your haul! FWIW, I prefer the vest open, which means that you would need to wear at least a cami underneath. . .As to the gladiators: Do you think it is tight by your big toe, or do you think it is an independent construction issue? If it is a little tight, put on a thick sock, saturate the sock above the pinching area with rubbing alcohol, then wear the sandal until the damp area has dried. This should stretch the area just a bit. If it is a construction area that is hidden, maybe you can stick on a bandaid or other pad?

Love the vest in all versions! I have found putting foot petals little cushions in strategic spots has transformed some shoes - but you have to be sure you are keeping first.

What a haul! I think it would be worth taking both pair of shoes to a cobbler to see if they can fix/stretch as needed. I like the vest as a shirt, and the jacket is fab!

You made great use of your shopping time in Boston. Love the jacket, vest and loafers. Hope the gladiators work out also, but don't settle if you can't get the shoes to be comfortable. It's a little hard for me to see the details of the vest and shorts, but I have been seeing vests styled for warm weather with subtle layering of tank tops or over sleeveless dresses. Wearing it solo would depend on how deep the arm holes are and if you prefer it open.

oh my goodness, what a great collection of shoes you got. i've used body glove quite successfully, and to be honest, usually by the 3rd time I've worn a pair of shoes, they rubbing is gone. now with sandals, my experience with something hitting one of my toes, that never gets better, but its worth taking to shoe maker and seeing with something can be done to soften what ever is there.

Wooo!! Look at these finds! I wish I had been able to stay longer to see them.

The vest makes an amazing top in the pics -- really looks cool with the sandals and the shorts. I also think the loafers are fix-able and they look so cool on you. The jacket is super-practical. All great buys!

We all agreed that pastry girl is even prettier in person than she is online. And I know for sure she is super gracious because she picked me up at the airport!! So kind.

It was so incredibly awesome meeting all of you. I kind of wished I had swapped my plans and gotten there for lunch and the rest of the day, but then I wouldn't have gotten to spend all that time with many of you on Friday!

I wore the black blazer today (yes, with the blue pants, LOL). I just LOVE IT. I know I'd said no more blazers but this one was just right!

I'm still on the fence about the loafers. My feet usually step out of loafers, so if I have them stretched, will they end up with that problem? I have two other pairs of loafers (both driving mocs, much more casual than these) and they don't pinch or scrape anywhere. Is it time for PPP? Also, every other pair/style of Cole Haans that I've tried have not been comfortable. I've put that brand, for shoes, in my no-good-for-me bucket.

The gladiators... I don't know. I have a pair of shoes with a metal ring that I got last year, and that blasted ring bruises the top of my foot every time I wear them. I worry the same thing will happen with the gladiators. I did see some stick-on clear blobs for shoes that I can try. (My other ring-shoes can't use a blob because the ring is very large but super narrow.)

ps -- got a price adjustment on the snakeskin slip-ons that I'm still on the fence about! Just in time; Zappos will do an adjustment within 10 days, and yesterday was day 10. I discovered the sale price after 9pm! My new rule? Check everything I buy for at least two weeks afterward!

Hmmmm. Now that you've given more info on the loafers I might counsel caution after all. Whenever I try shoes on my "not for me list" I end up regretting it. Keep in mind I am also one who can't keep low vamp shoes on my feet.

pastrygirl, I love the vest and the jacket. They both look great on you, and I really like how both of them look with the pieces you picked to model them with for your photos. With the shoes, it sounds like at least the loafers should go back. Bummer, 'cause they do look nice on you.

It was fantastic to meet you! We should have a mini meetup one of these days since we're so close.

Love the way you styled your purchases when you got home! I think with shoes, only you can decide if they will work or not...I make many mistakes. It was great to meet you and I would be up for another shopping trip in Boston or the suburbs. I really enjoyed meeting you and shopping with other women instead of by myself.

It pains me, but both pairs of shoes are going back. At least I have my b/w houndstooth shoes to console me today...

Wearing the Gibson jacket again today, to the office. If Rae can do it, I can, too! (In the past I've always forced myself to wait a week between wearings.)

Oh, bummer about the shoes, but better to save the $$ for something more comfortable and functional! The Gibson blazer is brilliant on you. IKWYM about Tahari jackets -- they usually fit me well too, but I have a few from several years back that I rarely ever wear because they are a little too dressy/officey for where I am now. I keep them, though, because they are classic and fit well.

Oh, and Suz is totally right. You are so pretty! I realized at one point you remind me a little of Morena Baccarin (from Firefly and Homeland), who I think is totally gorgeous.

It was such a pleasure meeting you! I'm sorry you couldn't join us for the whole day, but I'm glad you could be there for the Friday night dinner and the morning festivities, and that you had some shopping success!

As I sit here with sore feet and shins from all of the walking (5 miles according to Janet's fitbit app)- I think you are making the right decision about the footwear And my boots didn't have any bothersome spots prior to the meet up. The jacket and vest are super! It was really nice meeting you! And thanks for the heads up on the Starbucks coupon as recompense for the late night fire alarm.
