I stopped by Gap this evening to look at Large size belts (successfully - I got two on super sale!) and so of course I had to take the opportunity to try some boyfriends on for size. These dark wash plain-pocket ones (photos 1&2) were on sale so they came home with me. These are a 30, which is the larger of my two regular sizes so let's say they are ~1/2 size larger than normal. Because they were on sale I could not find either a 29 or a 31 to try on. I think these fit like skinny BFs on me, which is fine - the crotch is droopy in the front but not the back, which is what I prefer anyway. For some reason they look more fitted in these photos than they actually are, probably because of the dark color. They feel like they will stretch a lot. Not a K/R since they were final sale but they were also only 17.50 so I am keeping nonetheless. Photo #3 is the fitting room photo which shows their slouchiness a little better.

I also tried on the 100% cotton flap pocket ones. Because of the fabrication, they feel a little tighter and stiffer. I also thought the rise on these was too high, definitely higher than the stretch ones. I'm showing these bad photos from the fitting room because I remember someone said they wanted to see these jeans on a pear. Photo 4 is the 30, and photo 5 is the 31.

So, for those of you who were wondering about the SBF and pear shapes. I am *very* pear shaped, with high, wide hips and big thighs. I also have a substantial booty. None of the sizes I tried on gave me a "diaper butt". I have too much booty for butt saggage, to be honest, in any size. The dark wash pair I purchased also makes my hips look way narrower than normal. Partly because they are dark, to be sure, but also because the low rise, hip-slung look is paradoxically very slimming since it makes it look like they are falling off, if that makes any sense.
