Hi friends, I've been a wee bit in the doldrums the past couple of weeks, and just going through that process of dragging myself back into a more positive frame of mind. After realizing yesterday that I'd really let my self-care go, I decided on a home mani-pedi last night and then to give myself a few hours off in the morning for some retail therapy. The purpose of the shop was to add a few pieces to my wardrobe that would mix in with my uniform items, but hopefully feel a little fresher. My rule was, no buying anything that I already had in my closet (read: no crewneck fine-knit sweaters no matter how pretty the colour!). Other than that, the goals were:

  • if it catches your eye, just try it on
  • if you try and really like it, just get it!
  • don't worry to much about how it fits in the wardrobe, whether it matches my descriptors, etc., etc. ... today was literally about indulging myself a little (I did set a strict budget which I stuck to, and ended up with pretty practical pieces, I think).
What I bought:
  • Uniqlo mock neck ribbed top in soft white. I really like this top, and I had it in mind to add a few 'winter whites' to brighten up my dark-neutral heavy wardrobe for fall and winter
  • Uniqlo pink and gray plaid shirt. Because Angie's blog post! And pretty colours
  • Zara pointelle sweater. I think this will be great for date night, and for the holidays with my burgundy velvet jeans.
  • Old Navy slouchy vneck cardi. Every once in while, I find a gem in there; I *think* this may be one (we'll see how it holds up!)
  • Gap skinny high-rise jeans. Ok I have lots of skinny jeans, but the high rise and button fly are something different. I could probably have gone a size smaller but I didn't want the sausage skinny look; are these alright? (couldn't work out a find for these, will try again later)
Tags on everything so feedback welcome! Did I hit my "soft and pretty" goals? Not really - but there you go Thanks for looking, and now to do some work Also included, a photo of a puffy-sleeve sweater; although I didn't quite find the right one, I enjoyed this look a lot and will keep my eye out.
