Garnet Hill had a sale on all their swimsuits last month, so that might be why. They seem like the kind of place that only orders a certain amount of each season's items and doesn't restock, compared to someplace like Lands End or Eddie Bauer which runs out of items much less often.
Boden's in the middle of a big sale this week so I would imagine the inventory is lower than usual. They will probably start advertising their summer stuff soon (!).
I suspect that for all the companies that started as catalog businesses, their web traffic not driven by catalogs is at least half their custom at this point, and then you get mailing differences with the catalogs - if Boden sends out their catalogs all at the same time, customers in Europe and the east coast are going to get them faster, go to the website and order the new items, and then when the rest of us get our catalogs everything is gone already, at least in some sizes or colors.
