Why do jeans want me to be sad?

Ugh. I felt so cute for the first 15 minutes.

Please take a look at the fit on these jeans and tell me whether to burn them or not.

Vote YAY to keep, NAY to send them to a fiery pit of hell. Let me know if you need more pics to decide.

Wow those bagged out a lot over the course of the day. Personally that would drive me crazy and they would be a Nay.

They have sagged out, but given that you have cut the tags and worn for a day I would wash and try again...

I don't think they look bad in picture 2, although the fit isn't as sleek looking. For me, it's the backside that really makes a difference. If my jeans bag out too much in the seat, I feel totally unflattered by them. For me, that would be the deciding factor. Washing won't make a difference. They'll fit again when you first put them on and loosen up the same again, in my experience.
I know some people swear by jeans that don't have spandex, but I've found a lot of jeans with spandex (or lycra or elastine, different names for the same thing) keep their fit nicely and others don't. So I don't really know what the answer is, other than wearing them around the house for a couple of hours to see what happens.

Smallish butt, sturdier thighs and knees, try Gap real straight jeans in the faded wash. They are not as dressy as the dark wash but the size stays absolutely the same day after day.

That's so disappointing. I don't think they look too bad, though, and washing might improve things. Otherwise, maybe you could move them to a more casual capsule if you have one?

It is very frustrating when jeans stretched out so quickly. I don't wear my jeans tight so I think both pic #1 and pic#2 look great. However, the more you wear the jeans the more they will stretch. That has been my experience with jeans like the ones you are showing.

I have found that washing jeans actually makes the problem worse. I rarely wash my jeans. I put them in the freezer. They last longer that way. I spot clean if necessary.

I don't think the jeans in the second pic look bad, just a bit more wrinkled. Have you tried the Gap Resolution Slim Straights? I get several wearings out of them before they start to bag out.

Remember to look at the amount of spandex or stretch content. Also it is ok to size up for fit in the hip and leg then to alter for a great fit in the waist. I do it all the time. And I am the self tilted Queen of the high waist because of all the bending and moving I do.

Whatever we think, you are unhappy with them. They're not great, IMHO, but not terrible either. I would relegate them to the "not business casual Friday" but I would still wear them to play with the kids, do house or yard work, or just hang out around the house.

I think the problem is the denim. They look like a pair I just bought recently that are a lighter weight sort of smoother feeling fabric ( If that makes scense) ! I am just finding that the heavier weight denims, no matter the percent of spandex or whatever, do not bag as much. also there seems to be different amounts of elasticity. some are stretchy like a rubber band stretchy with good recovery and others stretch and have very little recovery. I do not think it has anything to do with brand or price range, it is just hit and miss as to how they bag out or not.

Well, I am on a 99 hangers only plan, so stuff I can't wear "out" has no place in my closet! (No kids, no yardwork, etc.)

They'll occupy one of the two hangers I have designated for jeans until I find something better. I will DEFINITELY be looking for thicker cotton. Always Trying, the way you describe it sounds like exactly the issue I'm having.

Thanks ladies! Even if the vote is "they are meh", that's more data than I have on my own!

Next jeans experiment I will take a pic of the backside too.
