Why do I love this?

This is outrageously expensive, and I have no idea where I would ever wear it, but I keep coming back to it for some reason:

Why do I love this? I'm not going to buy it but I'm curious.Do you love it, hate it, think it's silly and impractical, other? Would you wear it and if so, when and how?

You are so funny. I don't know why we are sometimes drawn to things we would never wear or own, but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate it.

Perhaps you are drawn to the color/fabric contrast, and the interest of the solid/stripe.

I don't love this...but I don't hate it, I think someone could wear this..I think you may love the possibilities with this dress.

It's not something I would generally be drawn to, but I can imagine it looking great on you. You have the personality to pull it off I think.

You like the waist definition in the piece? I know your eye always appreciates anything that defines the waist! I'm the same way... I tend to like strange things if they make a waist look smooth and small.

Shiny - the piece seems to really tie into what I perceive of your style. Black and white contrasting piece. Distinctive and dramatic. Shows off your bod and elongates you. I like the overall idea but not some of the specifics if I were looking at it for me - I think it would be more striking if the white were pure white and not look like a shirt - otherwise it seems like a black wrap top over a long PJ shirt to me. I love the drama and the contrast too.

I had the same reaction as Sihaya - it's something that I could really imagine you wearing, Shiny. The contrast between the formal (little black dress) and informal (striped shirt sticking out the top and bottom) would really suit you, I think.

Maybe your'e drawn to the drama of the dress. If you went to a party and someone walked in with that dress on you would probably think "wow that girl has guts to be sporting that!"

There is the juxtaposition of the very female lbd dress with a man's dress shirt, kind of reminds me of some of Angie's styles with her feminine dress combined with docs or a moto jacket. Despite combining these elements, it's not androgynous at all. I find it interesting but a little sloppy.

I have to admit when I first saw it I thought it was the ugliest thing & wanted to take the black overpart off (I'm not sure if it comes off or not). However, reading through these comments, I think others are right on (distinctive, dramatic, more formal, statement piece) - it would very likely suit your style Shiny & I think if anyone could pull it off you could. I would love to see it on & accessorized. It is a lot of black though. The shirt tails peeking through at the bottom are very sexy with a pair of killer shoes....something about the black on top for me though...

I think you probably love it because you can imagine yourself wearing it and looking fab. It doesn't look like what you would typically wear to my eye, but I like it, and I especially like the fact that it is different. Sometimes you have to buy something like that and then wait for the right event to come along.

I am not crazy about it because it seems like a forced combo. I would like to see it in person. I also think that it breaks the body up in a weird way. Sometimes I think these things appear because it is so hard to find new ways to design. I would like to see it on you before I would make a final judgment. I think you may like it because you have such a love of mixing textures. I might like it better with less contrast . It looks a bit silly to me but who knows?

I agree with GG. I feel about it sort of how I feel about the high wedge tennie runners we saw last year. I don't know what the official name is, they looked like tennis shoes only had a high wedge sole which took them into another catagory.

It would definitely be a signature piece. I'm not sure how I feel about the racer back. I like the front. I also am totally not surprised that you would be drawn to it. It feels very much like something you would like.
