Why can't I find a sheath dress!?!

I am looking for a sheath dress to fit me properly, and can't find ANYTHING! There's a Tahari one at Nordstrom but it is sold out in my size. I would prefer a v-neck sleeveless style. Of course it needs to be petite and suit an IT shape. Is that possible? Grrr. I've tried Talbots and Nordstrom. J. Crew does not work for me because the dresses are not made for bigger chests.

Hm, so I take it the main fit problem is getting the bust and the bottom to fit at the same time? Maybe you could try a sheath in a sturdy knit, so that the bust stretches some -- or you might have to make friends with a tailor... I think there are some online vendors that make dresses to your size measurements. I've never used it but, between the original cost of the dress, plus tailoring, it might be cost effective.

Hmmm, can you get one with a different neck or not petite & have it altered? Not ideal but an option maybe...Or, what about Banana Republic, Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft? Or, google the Tahari one & see if anyone else carries it. Or, have you tried to see if other Nordstrom's carry it in your size that they could ship it to you?

Calvin Klein, Jones New York and Taylor make nice sheath dresses. I purchased two sheath dresses at Dillard's last month .

I have this and LOVE it, but it's not a V or sleeveless. Ponte is very forgiving:

I've always had trouble finding dresses, particularly sheath type of dresses because usually the top is too snug and the bottom too loose. I feel like J Crew, Talbots, and AT all cut their dresses for pears. I have several dresses from AT but they are all fit and flare rather than tapered at the bottom. BR used to be a good bet but somehow it's been hit or miss for me for the past couple of years. Awhile back, veteran forum member suggested I try ATL for dresses since they seem to cut better for ITs. And she was right!! I found a couple of fabulous sheath dresses at ATL last winter including a black, sleeveless cowl neck one. The quality is so so but the fit is great!

I just tried on a Tahari sheath at Saks that might be perfect for you. I am considering going back and getting it for myself. I am busty (32DD-DDD) and it worked on my chest. I'm not sure if it's the same one you were looking at from Nordstrom, and I can't find it on the Saks website, but I'm attaching a photo. I know you hate cleavage, so I guess you would have to wear a cami?

I second Kyle's suggestions about looking for knit or heavyweight jersey fabrics. Have you tried myshape.com? They have loads of dresses. You have to dig around a bit, but sometimes you can find cool stuff:
