Sally/kiwi gal...I know what you mean about your DH not understanding social media. Mine doesn't know I'm on YLF, not that I'm hiding anything, and he wouldn't even know what it was, so I don't even go into it with him. And He has interests that don't coincide with mine. I feel like this is the safest internet place to be!

How funny, a secret pleasure
My husband would get a glazed look and fall over if I required him to listen to fashion musings.
I have greatly enjoyed the honesty and bravery of all, particularly the people who post pics. Am still considering that...have never in life enjoyed being photographed.
I would have killed for this place when I was 38 and starting grad school after running a construction company, after being a backpack nomad. No idea what to wear to teach, or later, to wear in business travel that spanned a lot of income levels and a couple of countries. No money, either!
Being on the Psych side of things, i was aware of how groups will judge whether you are in or out, one of them, or an outsider who will never understand. It was a crash course. Could have used the help.
Women can be harsh with each other, also, so wow, a place to talk about this without competition or meanness.

Well, one evening I was tired of Facebook and I thought, "I wonder what else is out there?" I love fashion, so I google searched Fashion for Women Over 40. This was one of the websites that popped up, and as soon as I explored it, I knew I had found a wonderful place.

Three plus years ago, I woke up from a trance. I hadn't bought clothing in fifteen or twenty years, in part because I hated low rise pants and empire tops and I hadn't yet discovered internet shopping. My size and weight hadn't changed much over the years (I don't wear highly fitted items), so my old clothes mostly fit. I was busy raising my daughter and buying HER clothes, but she was getting ready to leave the nest to attend college. I had NO idea what was considered current and fashionable, and no one in my circle was/is a fashionista. The closest was my daughter, but who wants to dress like a teenager when she is in her late 50s?

I stumbled upon this blog and later the forum, and the rest is history. I stayed due to the warmth and friendliness and because of the variety of ages, bodies, and styles of the women here. I appreciate that a number of women here are aging Baby Boomers and that a number of us have fussy feet. Angie has really created a unique community.
