Whose UPS guy visits them?

One of the downsides of taking a shopping break is that I don’t get to see my UPS fellas. My current guy is Kevin, but today Rand, my guy for YEARS, dropped by to say Hello since my neighbor who had promised him applesauce wasn’t home. What a treat! Since he bought a house in the far ‘burbs, he tries to work late three nights per week so he’s not driving home at the peak of rush hour and maybe I will see him again even though he has changed his route.

City life isn’t always impersonal!

We don't have UPS, but the clerks at my local pick-up-point knows me by face, and sighs/grins when I show up for another return/pick up. Must slow down on that online shopping *blush*.

I only get to know the regular drivers' names at work, but as soon as I learn them they change routes! I did learn that some customers are very rude to them, so knowing some "friendlies" are on their route helps brighten their day. Our office has a water bottle filler and clean bathrooms we make sure drivers know they can use. It's the right thing to do, and it guarantees we hear about updates about drivers or routes that might impact us, especially around the holidays. ☺️ I hope you get to know your new driver soon - when you order a lot they will certainly know your name!

Our UPS drivers change almost daily, occasionally we even get a Woman driver!

I am lucky to see the driver they just toss the package and leave, no knock or doorbell ring unless it needs signing and nobody would ever come inside too much effort for them lol!
Your drivers sound very friendly.

We have a box at a UPS store. With all my purchases and returns, I feel like we’re best friends now!

Re USPS, our route is apparently choice, and those with seniority want it. However, that means they have lots of vacation, and also they keep retiring. So when they are on vacation, another person adds it to the end of their route. So we get our mail anytime from 6 to 8:30 PM. It’s really a nuisance.

We have a postal worker shortage in my area. Sometimes they’re so behind, we get mail on Sunday!

I don't think I have a regular UPS driver, but my parents have had the same USPS carrier for several decades now. His name is Fred, and he's a Washington Redskins fan, and he's been known to talk trash about the Cowboys to my dad by the mailbox for an hour. Usually we'll get him a coke out of the fridge if he's got time to stop. It's great to be able to build relationships like that.

Oh, and our regular USPS driver likes to park her truck in front of our place including when she eats her lunch. Thus, when her truck is gone we know we have mail in our box. This is convenient because our mail doesn't go through a slot in our door, plus it can get damp if left in our mailbox too long. Knock on wood, but so far we haven't had any mailbox or Amazon thefts in my immediate neighborhood. I think the numbers of us home at various times of the day helps. (Amazon thefts have become HUGE in the Bay Area.)

We had a regular one when I was a child, cause my parents had a business. He was really nice. We went to see his band play sometimes.
