Hi Everybody! Thanks for posting--it's interesting to find out about your interests and things.

Hi Everybody! Thanks for posting--I love reading about your interests and things (other than YLF).

Thanks for posting everyone! Yay for another ballroom dancer Christie! And I envy you on the fact that DH shares your hobby! There's nothing in the world I could do to make my BF join me

Oooh this is fun!

Hello everybody, I'm sort of new at this forum although I'll admit i've been a bit of a lurker for a while. My name is Aisha, and I live in Toronto, Canada. I'm a CA (Chartered Accountant), and have been married for about 2 1/2 years now. I'm also 23 so I'm a bit of a minority in that I was married pretty young. But I was lucky enough to start university a bit early (16) and I guess I just met the right guy really early! We got married right before my last semester, and what can I say, life is good!

I found youlookfab as a link from another style blog that I normally read daily (Allie from Wardrobe Oxygen) and ever since then I have been checking in daily! I look forward to every one of Angie's daily posts and have found that they have really helped me in figuring out just what to wear each day!

Figurewise, I'm not sure what category I fall into and would appreciate any help any of you can extend my way. My measurements are 40-36-42, I'm a 36dd and 5'7. I'm also pretty broad-shouldered (17" across) but keep in mind I have taken these measurements myself so I'm not sure if I am measuring correctly. Size wise, I normally fit into a 12 top and bottom, occasionally a 14 where fit in the chest area is an issue.

I'm a complete foodie and spend a lot of free time cooking and baking. In fact, the year I wrote my CA exams, I had a leave of absence from work for about 6 weeks in the summer and since I'm the type of person to cook/bake when I am stressed, I ended up making a lot of cakes, pies and pastries - about 4-5 a week...which were passed on to family and friends of course

I'm relatively fit, I work out about 5-6 times a week and am a strong swimmer. My building has both an indoor and outdoor swimming pool so I'm able to swim about 3-4 times a week.

I'm attaching a couple of pics, one is from Paris where DH and I were at during christmas break, the other is from a trip to Hawaii last year and the last one is from my wedding. It was a traditional pakistani wedding which explains the colourfulness of my outfit

(I'm sorry I did rotate this pic I have no idea why it is coming out sideways??)

I hope to put up pics on outfits etc soon but in the meantime, I would appreciate any help anyone can extend my way on which of angie's body types I fit into...thanks!!!

Wow Aisha you're gorgeous! you look breathtaking in your wedding photo!

Maybe you can post a simple full body shot to help us figure out your body type?

Aww thank you Tanya!
I'm just taking a look through the pics I have saved on the computer and I don't seem to have one right now. Hubby and I are horrible with the camera, we only seem to use it on vacations (and of course I have the wedding pics lol). To be honest, neither of us are photogenic so we tend to avoid the camera as much as possible lol.

I just pulled out the camera to take a quick pic and battery is dead. such is life! Will post one up tomorrow for sure!

Ok so charged camera long enough to get a quick shot - here it is:

Not the most stylish outfit but i'm just schlumping around the house today

Thanks!

Hmm for this photo I'd say maybe inverted triangle but Angie is the expert, so let's wait for her. The tunic is a bit loose so I can't quite tell. Oh, and maybe you can start a new thread with your photo for body type determination, it will probably get more traffic that way!

Thanks Tanya, will do!

Welcome Aisha! Your wedding picture is mind blowingly stunning.

I can’t see your body shape in your tunic, so perhaps you can post a picture on a separate thread in a form fitting top?

Hi Angie,

I just posted another pic under the "What's my body type" forum - here it is again

does this help?

Aisha..you are stunning! I love your wedding photo--I LOVE LOVE LOVE the henna tattoo for your wedding day! I remember seeing a blurb on that tradition in a documentary once--it's my all time favorite cultural tradition. I also love the way you are looking away and down in your wedding photo. It's very demure. (oh, and I love your red purse Paris!)

Thanks Nicole!
I had to have a few shots looking down on my wedding day, in pakistani / indian weddings the bride is supposed to be demure and a bit shy. Most of my wedding day shots have me looking straight on to the camera so my mom was happy to get a few of me looking down!

Aisha, you are absolutely beautiful!

Yay Aisha, nice to see someone else from the motherland here! I agree with everyone else, you are gorgeous!

Thanks Maya!
Are you also pakistani?

I am half Indian, but still...same thing...:p

Aisha- you are lovely! I am reading a book right now where they talk about the tradition of henna on hands in the engagement period- I wondered what it looked like- you are truly a beauty!

Hi- I'm Lisa . I had to laugh when Ana said Hi - I'm Ana and the response given is Hi Ana because it the typical greeting in a 12 step program that I have been going to for 10 years in April.
I am from Bristol RI, moved to upstate NY, went to Boston College- graduated and moved to Houston where I loved for 9 years. Met the hubb there and we came to Columbus OH to be closer to his family. I am always talking about going back to TX- loved it!
I am a workers comp claims adjuster - I try to write something every day. My dream is to learn Russian and read my favorite books in Russian ( Dostoevsky).
I love clothes- when we lived in New York, I would save all my money to go to The People's Place- a really cool store in Elmira owned and run by Tommy Hilfiger- at that time, he was just famous for being a little wild. Anyway, I bought this corduroy Landlubber jumper and wore it to junior high with Frye BOots- the minute I got on the bus, kids started yelling and making fun of it- I called my Mom up and asked her to come get me so I could change and she said "Hold your head high! It takes courage to have style. " That has pretty much summed up my philosophy on clothing ever since- it is our one chance to be creative and show the world who we are.
This site has been an absolute revelation for me- my confidence grows daily- and its not a question of buying new clothes- its knowing people who I feel comfortable being myself around-
Thanks to all !

I agree with everyone else. I LOVE your wedding photos!! You are beautiful and you and your hubby look so adorable together. =) And you've got gorgeous hair and skin.

Lisa, I love what your mom told you--such good advice that has served you well!

Ana- thank you ! Means a lot coming from a southern belle like yourself!

Your wedding picture is spectacular Aisha. And I love your name too. Being one of many Sarahs everywhere I got I've always planed to give my children more unusual names.

Thanks for posting about yourselves Lannie, Lisa, Katie, Hannah, Aisha and Lissy. (Hope I haven’t forgotten anyone else whose posted here recently?)

The international flavour of this forum tickles me silly. We’ve got America, Belgium, Australia, Canada and the UK covered as far as homes go, and virtually all continents covered as far as nationalities go. BRILLIANT!

Ps. to all the Canadians – I love what I’ve seen of your country

I've been avoiding this because I find it awkward to write extensively about myself, but I love making lists, so here is my list:

-24 years old

-I have my BFA in art history and art conservation. I am currently in a post-graduate graphic design program (but it's not a master's program...it's hard to explain)

-Signature style: Artsy, voluminous, colorful, mod, funky but always tasteful! But a lot of times I prefer to be very simple, but always with a twist of some kind.

-I am Indian and Persian, but don't speak either Persian or Hindi/Gujarati because my parents insisted on using only English around me when I was a kid. I hate being monolingual though, and am desperate to learn Persian (or what you silly non-Persians call Farsi). It's so pretty!

-I'm also vegetarian, and I take it very seriously. I don't eat any fish, nor do I eat gelatin or rennet. I don't wear leather or fur, except on my feet because they are extremely wide and synthetics and other materials won't stretch enough to accommodate my foot. I tried for a couple of years to wear only synthetics and fabric, and they just made my feet worse. It was a hard decision to make, but a necessary one.

-Which brings me to the reason I am vegetarian: I absolutely love and adore animals. Animals and art/design are the loves of my lives.

-I have a cat, Toulouse aka Lucie who is my sweetheart. She is spoiled rotten and I would do anything for her. I even talk to her...in her language. She says "meow" and I meow back. I have a history of psychotic relationships with my pets. And I am very proud of it.

-I'm addicted to tea and used to drink about 12 cups a day. I have been trying to cut back and now I'm down to 5 cups. It's so hard, but now that it's hot out it's easier.

-I found YLF by googling how to wear swing jackets and I haven't looked back. Next to Facebook, it's the site I visit most regularly and I never anticipated making such great friends here, but I'm glad that I did and I hope to meet some of you someday!

Hooray, Maya, thanks for posting!

I meow at my cat, too.

Very interesting Maya.

I also used to meow at my cat that now lives with my parents.

If I speak to her in English, I just end up saying the same thing over and over again..."you're SO cute! and SO pretty! and SO sweet! i love you SO much!" I think our conversations are much more substantial when I speak felinese.

Sometimes I even initiate the conversation (cut me some slack--there aren't many people to talk to in the 'burbs).

Nice list Maya. Sounds like there’re a few crazy cat people on this forum. Good! I like it that way. And you must miss your cat terribly Tanya (sniff).

Now that I’ve come out of my closet, here’s a little more about myself:

Curve ball: I can join the Asian tribe on this forum. My late mother was Eurasian: half Dutch and half Indonesian. This is common in the Netherlands, (the Dutch colonized Indonesia). That makes me a quarter Indonesian, which is rather unexpected given my Nordic appearance.

Passions: Other than Greg, Jasmine and Rosie, I take fashion, food and friendships very seriously. Travelling is close to my heart and so is art, cooking, eating, our home, having a good laugh, enriching our lives with animals and helping others.

Favourite cuisines: Japanese, Authentic Cantonese ( I’m talking Hong Kong Cantonese), Indonesian and Italian.

Favourite animals: dogs, horses, giraffes and zebras

Nourishment: I eat everything ACCEPT mammals, melted cheese, alcohol and coffee

Style: I’m a trendy urbanite. I have funky, modern-classic moments and enjoy pushing the fashion envelope. I also like pretty things. I strive to look interesting, sophisticated, polished, elegant, lady-like, natural, approachable and real. I’m about as un-sporty and un-bohemian as it gets.

Hey Angie, I'm half Italian and I make a mean sauce. When we meet up, you will have to let me make you a traditional Italian dinner!
