Mandipa - Lol. That is hilarious - germophobe who only kisses his own hand. Haha, stories of youth!
Astrid - It *is* interesting. Moving cultural targets. I remember a girl in my college dorm who told me about her cousin. The cousin was 20 and had been married several years and had two children. It astonished me that anyone would do that on purpose, as the cousin clearly had. My own mother was 31 when I, her first child, was born.
Just a completely different program in my world. At 18, you get a string of pearls and come down from the nursery to smoke and drink in the presence of adults. After a few months of this, you go off to college to drink and smoke with your peers in public, then you do Bofu Botswana to drink and smoke with foreign peoples, then you go back to college to drink and smoke while wearing tweed. Finally, around 28-30, you start getting on with it. You stop drinking and smoking when you get pregnant. Haha.
Oh btw, before 18, you drank and smoke in the smoking area at boarding school, behind the Main Hall. Not in public
