Oh, I actually love it! That's a fairly "classical" avant-garde pastiche - I just saw one where Comme Des Garcons did a full bikini trompe l'oeil on a tunic. I think Galliano did a dress with a naked lady's body on it, as well. You have to be nervy to wear it, but I find it amusing.

Just as a tshirt, over jeans. It would probably work best fitted. I file this under, fashion is allowed to just be fun.

Ohmigosh. Hahahaha! That is so ugly to me. I'm not sure how you could go about making it look not tacky. I think it might require a mohawk and nose-to-ear chain. Something, you know, to say *my name is not Bubba.*

My issue isn't with the pseudo bra, it's with the skin tone bodysuit - feels like an ice skater costume to me. I'd rather just wear the bra.

GirlX, I think that's what bothers me too. The not-quite skin tone (but "nude" is not my favorite look anyway). I guess if I want people to look at my boobs (which, sometimes, admittedly, I do), I'd rather dress them in something a bit more flattering. Pointing and laughing is not quite the reaction I'd be looking for.

GirlX, that's it! The not-quite-nude is like a skater's costume. Combined with it's being a onesie.

Being very small of boob, I never want people looking at mine...the joke is rather on me, than the reverse! So I don't think I will be buying this one.

The point isn't that you want people to look at your boobs, the point is that they're NOT looking at your boobs. They're looking at fake boobs. It's a teasey pysche-out play on what people expect and what they get. Almost a feminist deconstruction of what men would like women to wear all the time. To me, this says, so you want to see my boobs? WELL YOU CAN'T, THEY'RE HIDDEN. So ha!

I agree the flesh tone isn't a lovely color but the idea is amusing.

This was actually just on Fashion Police a week or two ago. Most of the panel didn't like it, but the one guy did. It was worn on some red carpet or event or something with a blazer over it, I think.

It's not because it's boobs to me. It's like those torso shirts that show a hot bod, meant to be worn by an out-of-shape guy, that makes it seem like an old joke. Though I just googled 'trompe l'oeil" and most of them are actually naked boobage or bikinis.

Don't get me wrong, it's witty and probably totes adorbs on the right, irony-projecting wearer.

The funnier part on me would be the skin tone effect.

I'm with IK. I think its hilarious, but then I have a high tolerance for goofy and I love trompe l'oeil. Case in point, I just received a bag from Jump From Paper. I adore it, and my husband thinks its the most hideous thing he's ever seen.

I can see how the bag would be obviously worn tongue in cheek (and I love it, too!) but I always wonder when we talk about wearing less obvious things ironically. How do we know what the wearer is thinking? Isn't it maybe our own judgement that they are, or are not, wearing something ironically?

I think the point of irony in clothing is that the wearer doesn't care what other people think & that's part of the joke. I think of the original Punk movement & someone like Madonna - first everyone laughed at them, then what they wore became fairly mainstream.

Meh. I don't find it awful or anything but I wouldn't wear it.

I get the joke but I just don't find it new, interesting or in anyway unexpected. And to me, that is sort of the essence of funny. It's like the same old knock-knock joke you've heard a million times. And because of that it sort of says to me, "I'd like to wear a bra as a top like Sue Ellen Mischke but I don't have the guts".

And of course as fashion it's not really attractive.

Lynne's bag, OTOH, is cute. It's funny!

I wouldn't wear it---the joke would be rather subverted by the lumpy bod underneath---but I do rather like it as irony (I'm not seeing tacky, but maybe it's in the who wears it, where, and how?). I like the jeans/skirt/sarong thingy the model's wearing with it even more. Now *that* I could wear (when I have a waist again).
