Thanks everybody! I was being tongue in cheek in the title, because even I can see the girlishness and maximalism here. I want juxtapose them to my “dark” side, would love any suggestions on amping up the contrast. Ripping the stocking is kind of an obvious one, but that feels both contrived and cliche to me—I don’t think I’d enjoy wearing that look. I might try pushing up the sleeves and adding bracelet(s) and my silver ring with the amethyst.
Nikki, I think this little guy is going to be my buddy all summer long—assuming summer ever gets here!
ChristalJ, thanks! I’m glad you see it.
Thanks LaPed! You know right what I’m looking for.
Slim cat, thanks for the suggestion; I will dig around to see if I have a black necklace that works. Or maybe silver/steel would work better than the brass, if I don’t have anything that’s black and suitable.
Irena, I’m glad you like it—there is a lot going on, but you have such a good feel for harmony that if the look works for you, it must not be too crazy.
ETA, Sarah, we were posting at the same time. Thanks for your analysis of different kinds of “rough”. It makes a lot of sense. Make-up is usually a polishing agent, but I wonder if in this case some bright lipstick and using liner on my upper as well as lower lids would add that “edge”. Any other suggestions?
