Thanks, ladies! (How could I forget curvy Vani in her KILLER BF blazer look. Shiny is also curvy and wears a BF blazer well. This is why I want Maya to wear one. Voluminous BF blazers can flatten curves). I’d appreciate the pictures if anyone else cares to post.

Lex, on the flip side, there are loads of tailored boyfriend blazers around at the moment. In fact, they’re often not *that* boyfriend-y because they‘re perfectly waist defining and fitted. They’re more girlfriend-y. So, you have a choice when it comes to the volume around the waist. Personally, I’m into the 80’s “swamped look” as you describe it. I think it’s refreshing to the eye and a fun blast from the past. Plus I LOVE the challenge of making something inherently masculine look feminine.

Louise, that’s too long. A little shorter than that should be fab.

Thanks for posting the picture again, Tanya!

Kristen, I can’t imagine why you can’t find a boyfriend blazer. What’s the challenge?

Laura, not loving your BF blazer?

Marianna, go for it. Cathy, that might work if the stance is in a flattering place.

Oh Angie, you have opened a kettle of worms, due to budget I'm not yet acquainted with my boyfriend blazer.

Every morning when I wake up, I walk to my wardrobe, rifle through the contents and think 'when I have my boyfriend blazer I will wear it like this'.

I really like this one

But can't ignore the draw of this equestrian style cropped blazer

I'll post my photos soon. I have worn mine before but haven't posted a photo for review yet.

Angie, I am totally in love with my BF blazer!! I've worn it several times already and feel so fab wearing it. The style is totally up my alley and I'm having tonnes of fun with it. Hopefully, I will get some pictures up soon. Now to get some fishnets/patterned hose and I am all set to try it with a few dresses and boots!

I have been wearing my bf blazer and I LOVE it. One day I even got a "You look too good to be pregnant." (Maybe this was insinuating that pregnant women can't look good normally, but I decided to overlook this because I truly felt fab.) I will try to get you some pics.

Angie, I like the look, but I decided to pass on this trend. I was considering getting a cheap one from H&M or BP, but I don't think it would work for my lifestyle. It seems like it would be awkward under a coat, too. I do want to see more pictures

Angie, I'm so glad you posted this; I have been wanting to post a simliar question. I love the way mine makes me feel only b/c it looks really good on I think (flattens curves as you said, makes me feel longer and thinner) but I can't figure out where to wear it. I would feel completely ridiculous standing in it at the park like I did this morning for 3 hours, or even at the grocery store. I bought an inexpensive version at target which has the contrasting liner so you can have fun rolling the sleeves up and every time I put it on I end up taking it off in favor of a boyfriend cardigan.

I think the structure of it is what is making it hard for me to wear. I was determined to wear it to a birthday party at a swanky martini bar this past weekend over a girly dress but something just felt off, so the cardigan was what I ended up wearing.

Maybe it is just not for me. I have not decide. Is a boyfriend cardi an acceptable substitute?

Thanks!

Patience - WOOOHOOOO! Rocking your BF blazer when you’re 8 months pregnant is KILLER.

Agrace, boyfriend blazers are so casual, especially if you choose the right fabrication. Wearing a casual BF blazer to the park with a fun T, cute sneakers and jeans is totally appropriate (unless it’s too cold which is to Marianne’s point). A cardi is great too but it’s not a substitute – it’s a different look.

Julie, you need a BF blazer.

Soooooooo, I’m actually quite surprised at how few YLF’ers have adopted the look. Very interesting.

A BF blazer 101 post is scheduled for tomorrow and unfortunately I can’t include any pictures because it’s too late to prep them tonight. But thanks for the input though :0)

Oh goody, I will really look forward to tomorrow's post. Angie, thanks for the imagery of what to wear to the park with a BF blazer. That actually sounds like something I might be able to pull off. I'm all for being practical b/c at the park and at the library I end up doing a lot of bending over, picking up a baby, dragging a preschooler and so on and so on....my clothes have to work with all of that. Your idea sounds do-able!

Oooh, can't wait for the tutorial on BF jackets. I like mine, but it doesn't feel as "me" as I'd like. I'll be eagerly awaiting tomorrow's post!

I bought a BF blazer a few months back. I like it, but I can't seem to get it to work the way I'd like. I try it on almost everyday but I can alway put together another outfit I feel better in and it gets pushed aside. Not quite sure why that is, but I'm excited about the tomorrow's post! I'd love to wear the blazer more often.

After looking at all the pictures and today's post, I'm am so bummed because I gave to Goodwill the perfect boyfriend blazer, I hadn't worn it in years, it was left over from my career days, but it would have been perfect. It was a Classiques brand from Nordstrom and longer, and a beautiful peachy cream color...Darn!

I took pictures but can't get my computer to upload them

Carole, try getting a look alike at a thrift store.

Joy, how can we help you upload pictures?

Carole, any possibility that you can get to the thrift store and buy it back? Maybe no one bought it yet!

Angie, thank you for your offer of help. The computer and camera don't seem to be connecting. When I plug the camera into the computer nothing happens. I'll have to get my husband to helpo when he has time.

Angie and Maya-I guess I will now add Goodwill and Thrift stores to my shopping routes....have never done that before...it could be fun! Wish me luck!

I'd love to wear one but I don't find any without shoulder pads, those make me looks badly disproportionate (and are quite uncomfortable). I really like yours, Shannon, it looks so good on you.

I adore this look--artsy and funky, just what I like. I'm going to have a few hours downtown tomorrow so I'll check out a few places to see if I can find one I love. I need an inexpensive version because I already know it won't get a huge amount of wear--it's not a practical item when you have a baby strapped to your body most of the time when out and about. It would work well for dates and things like that, though, and when the Chickadee is a bit bigger I could see myself wearing it a ton if they're still fashionable at that point. I'll try H&M and Winners for sure... fingers crossed.

Would this qualify or is it too long? I've had it for awhile.

Hm, the stance on my tux jacket is low, so I don't think it will work. Plus, the jacket is really long, falling around 2 inches below my crotch.

However, I like the way the structured jacket looks on me (I'm usually an unstructured kind of gal), so I'll be keeping my eyes open for a boyfriend blazer that works.

Hmmmm. Debora, does that jacket seem too big on the shoulder for you?

Hi Angie!

I wearing boyfriend blazers using my 10 year old long suit jackets. They work pretty well in this context and it gives my old suits a second life. I pair them with skinny pants and boots or flats.

Will post one soon when I'm back in SD.

Angie, now that you mention it, it does look a little big through the shoulders. I'll keep a look-out for a new version. Thanks!

DH had no luck getting the computer-camera connection to work either

I have been looking for a boyfriend blazer for the last few weeks and haven't been able to find anything that suits me. I tried on a few that were too long for me and swamped my frame so I decided to look for a more fitted boyfriend blazer. I found a grey bf blazer in New Look that fitted my arms, wasn't too long, had a contrast lining... and wouldn't close over my chest. I put on 7lbs recently and it all went onto my chest (I've gone from a 30C/32B to a 30D/32C) and it's making buying clothes really annoying!

I wore my new one to work today. Graphic tee, Etiko sneakers. The laundry in the background is my husband's, not mine Sorry for mobile-phone quality of the picture.

I really do love it.

Opinions, please, on this bf blazer...is it too short? I returned one I loved because it seemed snug when buttoning, and bought this instead....now I'm wondering if it is too short...

oops, forgot the picture here it is..

here's the one I returned because it seemed a little tight when buttoning...
