White tank 3 questions

My H&M chiffon tank is up for consideration. 1) is it cropped enough for skirts? 2) should I size up? 3) is this bra okay with it?

I don't know how you could wear a bra with the bcbg one. I think the two are similar enough that I wouldn't ditch this one to spend $100 on another one. Plus...aren't you on a shopping ban??

Carter, you got me! But this is gift stuff On looking again at the pics, I realize the skirt is doing me no favors with those pockets hanging on my thighs . . . might look a lot better with a tube skirt or even maxi.

I confess I like the BCBG one more. The neckline detail makes it look less nightie-ish and would probably be more flattering too. But both of them seem to require a strapless bra. Sorry, I'm not much help!

if money is no object, i'd try the BCBG one. i love the details in the back. and i'm with janet, i'd try a strapless bra with both.

Gah. I'm no help. I like the front of yours and the back of the BCBG. I think I'd keep yours, to be honest, because I don't know how you'd wear ANY sort of bra with the BCBG? The front v thing looks sheer enough that the front of any bra would show.

I don't mind the bra straps showing on yours at all.

I have an issue with the strapless bra - namely getting one in my in between size to fit is near impossible. What I have right now is a white 32C that does not really fit at all. I had to return my VS halter tank for that reason - it did not have the shelf bra in it, as advertised, and the white strapless looked terrible under it. Too bad, as that was an awesome top.
So, it's either one of my convertible bras or none at all. I could buy thin white straps for one of them. I've considered it in the past but never had a definite need. That would make either tank just look strappi-er. lol

I did just order some thin white straps . . . with summer approaching, I will need them.

If you need to have bra straps showing, I agree with Cerinda -- make it look intentional!

I like it with the shorts and would like to see it with a tube skirt or maxi. But I do like the details of the BCBG one!

If that is adhesive . . . woah on the removal! yikes!
let's say for argument's sake I have the perfect strapless bra (heh, I don't even have a regular bra that fits great) but let's just say I do. What about the other questions of whether this is the right size and if it's okay with skirts at this hi/low length. I would choose slimmer skirts based on the boxy feel the cargo one emits.

I think the size is right. I also think it would be good with a less boxy skirt. maybe the black skirt you have coming?

I have a bra that came with a pair of clear straps. Maybe you can find just the straps that will fit your regular bra.

Mo I love how this one looks with the shorts; you get better structure against the breezy tank. I'd venture to guess that's true with slim pants as well, though that's probably not an option for the heat coming up here With the skirt it's too blocky for me. Not sure if that's because of the skirt itself or if it's because the top is longer, but I've a hunch it's more the skirt. Perhaps with a more tapered skirt (but again, probably not useful in the heat)?

The BCBG top is beautiful, but the bra issues give me pause. Depending on HOW sheer that panel is, you might be OK with a pretty blush or nude lacy bra underneath so that it looks semi-intentional; I think full intentional will weaken the strong lines there.

I so hear you on the bra issue. I have a decent strapless bra that fits me well, but still, by the end of about 6 hours of wearing it, I'm ready to toss it into a fire.

This whole thing is why I rule out anything with spaghetti straps -- sleeveless styles that actually accommodate bra straps are so much easier to work with.

I agree with Aida's comments.

The BCBG one is gorgeous, and edgy with the split high low hem at the back. Really cool. However, if it means extra effort with bra issues then I really think you're better off with the H&M one. I don't see any bra problems there?

Having said that, I have a history of settling for cheaper when in the long run sometimes I should go for higher end....depending on the item.

Your posts always give a lot for consideration. I like the back of thr BCBG one but i am not a super fan of the inset and the bra issue is a big deal with summer tops. I am kinda a poly hater in the summer too because i find it feels really hot. I dont know the fabrication of the H & M but I think the poly + bra complication + high price (for a summer top) would seal the deal against the BCBG. I appreciate how you focus on getting each purchase just right. The thought process and comparison between items always inspires me to hold out for just right items.

Wear a pretty white bra with the top. I love pretty bra exposure.

Keep the H&M tank and get the BCBG one too.

Mo I think your current one is good - given the SHOPPING BAN!! - try some clear straps on your convertible bra if you are worried about the straps showing - - I got mine at target - they're a lifesaver for just such a top - here's a link to the ones I found on Amazon

Mo, I think it's very attractive and very you. I found the blue bra surprising but at a second look it is absolutely fine. I would like to see this tank with a tube skirt or maxi, or see it tucked in with a high-waisted skirt.

I think that the size is right. I'd keep it if it looks better with a slimmer bottom—like you say, the boxiness of the cargo skirt might be emphasizing the voluminousness of the top.

I will say that I like the BCBG one better, but that's a lot of money to spend on a tank, especially a white one that might show perspiration stains.

I'm not a big fan of colored bra straps—I prefer clear—but it's no biggie. However, I think that white straps might just look like regular bra straps, so I would choose a color rather than white, so that it looks intentional.

FWIW, if you look closely at the model in the BCBG top, it does look like she is wearing a bra! You can see the outline of the top of where the cups hook together in the sheer V.

A little update: I just ordered the BCBG on 30% off sale. I just don't like how the rear of this top looks on my figure. I know I usually have my hair down but when it is up, the thin straps, coupled with the blousing of the top where my back comes in (obscuring it) make me feel like a linebacker.
I have not returned this H&M one yet. Going to wait until the $$$ BCBG comes for comparison. heck, it may not even be a true white, which would put it out of the running right there.

I think the BCG one better suits your lines.

This one is fine but the BCG one I think would be more flattering on you due to the straight nature of the garment.

Not sure how to handle the bra issue.

I could likely use this bra with the BCBG. And I do have the thin white straps on order I could use on this one if I wanted.
