White shorts for me?

I'm thinking about ordering these white shorts from Esprit:

The other shorts I ordered (and the two tops) didn't work out, so I'm still on the search for summer shorts that aren't blue denim. These look like a good length and they aren't that expensive, but they are white! I don't have any white bottoms and to be honest, the thougth of keeping these pristine is a bit panic inducing... On the other hand my last summer shorts were light blue, so not much darker, and I did alright with them.

What do you think, are these worth a try?

Additionally, I also thought about ordering this dress here (more a tunic in length) http://www.esprit.de/damenmode.....!ThumbFlat to wear over my red skinnies. I really want to get more use out of them...

I have a pair of white shorts that I love. I've found they're not hard to keep clean as long as I don't sit on the ground. That's been a disaster every time. You can always bleach them if they get stained. I like the ones you've linked too as they're slightly loose which is how I like to wear my shorts.

Thanks Sara. I also prefer my shorts slightly loose and with a certain inseam length. Most shorts available are too short for me. I do sit on the ground from time to time in summer, but I guess I can wear something different if I know I can't avoid it that day.

Absolutely order the white shorts. White is actually easier to keep looking clean than some lighter pastels because you can use a bit of bleach on stains if you have to. The dress looks great too - casual and easy to wear. i like how they have shown it with the big loose scarf. What colour would you order?

Very cute, and very like the Gap boyfriend shorts that Angie recommended recently. I wore white shorts all summer last year and I have a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old, so that's good proof of durability. I try to be careful with them and wash them with oxyclean or similar, bleaching only when necessary. They still look great. Mine are more tailored, and I'm thinking about adding the Gap version this year. My vote is definite buy!

With white bottoms, you just have to accept that they will need frequent washing. I say, go for it! And the tunic looks a little long to be worn with skinnies, but that's just my two cents.

Absolutely - I am such a fan of white bottoms. It's hard to find them so that the pockets don't show, but it's worth the hunt.

I agree with Denise about the dress.

Thanks Missvee! I thought I'd order the black. I also like the petrol, but that one is sold out in S and XS and I think M might be too big. I agree, it looks nice with that big scarf.

Thanks Denise and Sarah. I can see why you think the dress might be too long. I'm not sure, the description says it's 87 cm in the back, that would be just over knee length. But, I suspect that this is going to shrink some more in the wash, similar to my blue dress. I can't wear that one as a dress anymore because it's too short now.
I just really liked this one because it's fit and flare without an empire waist, for a change.

I just ordered the shorts in two sizes! I didn't order the dress because I think you're right and it would be too long for my purposes. I hope the shorts work out.

I think these are a great pic for shorts. Like the others said, white shorts will need more washing but are so worth it. I agree on not sitting on grass etc - but otherwise super. Hope these work out for you

I think the white shorts are a great option Astrid. I wear my white denim ones quite a bit in summer and could even see having a second pair of whites. Grass stains are probably the worst concern so you just have to watch where you sit.
