White shirt styled copy cat - YouLookFab Forum

Some people asked how I was going to style my white shirt. I found 2 pics on pinterest.
pic one: I think this one needs white shoes to bookmark the white shirt as the model has done.
pic 2-3 another copy cat. Can't wear this to work because of the jeans. I am thinking of wearing this to brunch with my friends on Thursday. Do you think the jeans are better turned up or down with raw edges (pic 3). They are levis original that I found in a thrift shop years ago and cut up. Also is it age-appropriate?

pic 4 This is an oversized shirt that I didn't know whether to throw or keep. The skirt I was also having trouble deciding what to wear with it. I am absolutely going to wear this outfit to work. I have an oversized mustard shirt and may try the same formula with my denim jacket.

pic 5 another copy cat....obviously not for work and I don't like this as much as the skirt one and I"m not happy about my tucking attempts so may pass on this.
I find Pinterest really good for inspiration especially if you like street style.

This is so fun! Love your version of street style. My faves are #2 -3 and #5. The turned up jean cuffs look great to me. I also think your tucking was really good! Agree it would be worth trying white footwear in #1, and do like the skirt look very much too. Would you consider trying the one shirt tail in, one out look for any of these? Even if that's not your thing, I think you have a fab nonchalant vibe going here with the oversized shirts. Impressed.

Until I came across your disclaimer, I was thinking ‘she’s got tucking mojo!’ I quite like all your copy cats, and prefer the turned up cuff look to the un rolled version. Pinterest provides lots of inspiration and is a great jumping off point. Doing a good copy cat helps build styling confidence IMO.

I like all the versions - especially #3 and #4. I think cuffed jeans work better - showing the slim ankles adds more feminine touch. The white shirt is a fun piece - I'd like to see more outfits with it ( double rolled sleeves with less volume ?..).

Love the outfits and the reminder to look broadly for inspiration. During the shutdowns I went back to Pinterest and pinned enough to get a fun feed.

Great inspo to outfit inspo! I like #3 with the jeans turned up and all the others also. I might have to try #5 - I know you don't like how it turned out as much but I think it looks great!

Thank you everyone. It seems that each outfit had at least one fan with outfits 3 and 4 being the most popular.
ChristelJ I will try with the one flap out. I know if I went to work, there would be some old gentleman who would ask why I wasn't tucked in properly or think I had tucked it incorrectly in the bathroom. I dont work in the most fashionable location.

@ Runcarla perhaps I just have to practise and have more confidence in my tucking. As noted above I don't think the fashionable half tuck would be seen as fashionable in my job, though I do half tucks with a cardigan over but it is not as obvious.
@ Slim cat - good idea to play with the sleeves and perhaps make the shirt more streamlined for some variety.
@shevia I like the colour combination on number 5 and think you should try it. No 5 is a thrifted shirt. I'm pleased someone else is a thrifter. I have done a lot of thrift shopping these school holidays and might put together a few outfits for work before I go back to work next week based on my thrift finds and my new capsule. In New Zealand we call it op shopping as in opportunity.

I think all of them are great. The tube skirt is enviable - treat it as a neutral and wear it with any colour. I also love thrifting, although currently on a No Buy.

Thank you Star. I need to do a NO Buy. Do you have any pointers? Usually my motivation is no time but I want to track how long I can shop my closet.

I have listed all my items in my laptop and I am tracking wears. This is to be able to see which items really are workhorses and to only replace similar items in the future. It also helps me to see all my items listed and I can see what I am not wearing often (even though I like those items) and come up with outfits with them, instead of falling into a rut of wearing the few same items over and over. I do have way too many clothes though so this works for me. It is as fun to shop your own closet when you constantly trying new outfit mixes.

All are good, #4 is my favourite. I like #1, but had a laugh at how the Pininterest model was posing.

@ Star Thank you. I've gone and listed my bottoms, shirts, toppers and shoes. I didnt include basics, exercise wear or what I wear to lounge around at home. I also didn't take into account scarfs and accessories, or summer specific shoes or dresses (which I can't fit anyway), As you may know I am kind of starting from scratch due to weight loss and other things. So I have 53 items of clothing....lets see how I go with that.

@ Bijou Thanks. yes that post is quite crazy however I am envious of their photo locations. In front of my mirror is quite boring.

I love 2/3 and 5. You've got a really cool vibe here with the oversized shirt, slouchy jeans, scuffed boots - a bit rock and roll, but you also look like you could be a potter or an artist. It feels very authentic to you, and it works so well with your hair. It's inspiring.

And what white shirt is that, by the way?

Love your shirt looks. The white is great.
I also like the oversized blue- you can carry this off well, and for casual wear it looks fine to me.
I can understand if the blue feels too big to you and you want something a little more restrained. If so, then that might go on your List- chambray shirt like this one but slightly less oversized.

Oh, all look so good. My favorite is #1, maybe without a scarf or a scarf should be be draped shorter. I would never attempt a half tuck, I guess I’m not fashionable enough for that

You wear all of these styles very well. I'm agreeing with everything Viva said so eloquently! #5 is my favorite, actually--I love the blue with the black, the silhouette is excellent on you, and the lighter boots bookend your hair perfectly. And why can't you look cool and chic in your late 40s :)? Tell your son that age is relative, as I say to my own kids: I am old to a child but young to my SO's parents! (I'm in my early 50s.)
