White leather shoes or black suede shoes?

I've found a pair of wedges I'd love to sport for summer (in Australia) but I'm trying to choose between certain impracticalities.

Between the white leather or the black suede, which would weigh up in terms of practicality, versatility and longevity?

I love the black ones but not for the summer and suede is very hot too.. I vote white!

Welcome to the forum! Another vote for the white for summer. I think you'll be able to wear them with a lot more summer outfits than you might with the black. Also, suede can be difficult to keep looking pristine, so when comparing which might be higher maintenance or last longer, I think it's a draw.

I also like the white - they are more unique and eye catching. The black wedge is more run of the mill to me.

Hm, I'm throwing in a spanner.

Personally I do not wear white shoes because I don't like how stark they look against my mostly dark wardrobe and dark coloring. Yes, even in summer. If you wear lighter colors and have lighter coloring--which in all likelihood, you do--then white is fine.

But without knowing that, I don't feel comfortable giving a 100% response. I'd say get the white if you have the coloring and wardrobe for it, or get neither. Or get black and save it for winter/fall.

Hi - You mentioned practicality & versatility so let me ask you. Are you interested in stretching these past the summer months? If your main intention is to wear them in summer, go for the white ones. If not, I think the black ones are a nice all year round shoe. I personally don't mind wearing black shoes in summer. White to me is really limiting.

I do wear brights colour often--red and purple--as well as blush pink and black. So, based on your suggestions, I'm leaning towards white.

Zapootee, I would like to wear the shoes in winter and I think white wedges could work with black tights.

My shoe collection is already dominated by black, so white would be a good addition. When it loses its brightness, perhaps I could dye it and extend its life.
