White corduroy suit

Thinking about wardrobe additions for the next year. I need more light neutral items, this year was very heavy on dark neutrals.
What do you think about white corduroy suit like the one in photo. Is it too much white? Too much corduroy? Too classic? Too difficult to keep it clean?

Stunning, and you would look like a million $ in it. BUT, I can't even imagine the lint issue, and keeping it pristine looking would mean dry-cleaning it after every wear.

I think a suit is a clever addition as you can use the pieces together or separately. I was even considering a wool pink suit for next year's shopping list but I the I worried it was just a trend.

A cream trousers suit is a fab idea, I think it's great for spring and summer. Not sure if corderouy would be a great material. Is there any particular reason for this material?

Lisa - I was also thinking about upkeep of this. Especially as I don’t do dry cleaning (allergies). That is why I thought corduroy maybe better than wool, hopefully can be washed.

Minaminu - I am looking for a winter suit - starting with management position in January (temporary though until position is filled).

Minaminu - I did quick browse - really beautiful pieces. Do you have experience with them? Sizing especially. Unfortunately they will probably be another brand affected with Brexit.

It will need to be washing/wearing "like iron" - white does get dirty awfully quick in the city. Otherwise - beautiful look for you!

Beautiful in theory. I could never do it — too many coffee spills and too much dog hair. How about a fabrication that has less likelihood of lint/hair stickage? And corduroy doesn’t stay looking pristine for long, in my limited experience.

I think this will be a lovely addition, good to wear together and good to wear with other things too. I think being able to put things in the washing machine is important and I am thinking that you would be able to put both the jacket and the trousers in the washing machine.

I have some experience with The Fold. I have a lovely skirt and belt. they look super together, but having put on a little weight over the last few months, the skirt is in the hold zone, so I can't show you sadly. But as a brand, the pieces are TTS, slightly smarter and more formal. Their b&m shop is near my office, so I do go in every once in a while. The SA are so helpful and genuine. I was worried before I saw the pieces in IRL that they would be made for very much taller women, but they work for my height.

Do you have any like/dislike for the way corduroy behaves? I love the casual feel of it, and the lovely colors it comes in, but have learned that the way it hangs (a bit more bunchy/rumpling rather than draping) makes me feel sloppy. The way the pants in the photo are sort of bunching from the thigh down would likely be a deal-breaker for me.

But yes, yes, to the idea of a beautiful white or cream suit! Love it.

Yes, lint is a major concern, but was hoping that it will be less visible on light color. I do have a pair of burgundy corduroy pants that are currently sitting in a holding zone just because they are driving me crazy how much lint they collect - and I don’t even have pets.
But I also think that not all corduroy is created equal- I did have some other items in the past that did not attract lint at all. I think it depends how soft or smooth it is.

I like the idea of the off-white suit. So pretty! But perhaps not corduroy. A seasonless stretch wool will be more versatile.

Liz - yes it is more casual look, but I was hoping that it can still look professional enough when needed and also mixed for more casual looks. I should probably keep looking. But I am little concerned about putting white wool suit in the washing maschine . And cotton suit would feel too summery.

White suits are so gorgeous, but. . . I was also wondering if some whites look better with your hair color and whether some look *off*. . .Just another consideration.

Ooh, I love the idea of this. I had a brown Cynthia Rowley corduroy skirt suit I bought in NYC and it was brilliant. I should have kept it and had it altered. I wore it with brown patent slings.

Wow,this looks amazing but Icouldnt contemplate it myself as it would be filthy within the hour.Is it practical for your lifestyle?Can you train your children not to touch you?

I totally love the idea of this and think you would look amazing in it! I haven't owned a lot of corduroy and so can't speak to the upkeep, but I love the juxtaposition of a formal suit and corduroy fabric, which I view as a more laid-back material. I'd give it a go!

Gigi - that is exactly what I was thinking, that white wool suit maybe too formal, and corduroy would be more unexpected and fun but still professional.

This is fabric up close. I think it is small wave which could be more refined?

It is very classic but I am not sure if that’s your style? I would want to edge it up or give it a twist with accessories and a top. Personally I would have trouble keeping it clean lol.

I have winter white corduroy jeans that are at least 3 or 4 years old now and I don’t notice any problems with lint, in spite of being a rather lax housekeeper lol. And as far as dirt is concerned, they are much the same as my white denim jeans. So I’d say try the suit!

Anchie - I voted yes to buying this, as long as the fabric is washable.

I have a washable white suit (in a summer crepe fabric) and find it very versatile and not too difficult to keep clean. The ability to be able to wash this suit was a big selling point. The jacket and pants are in finds. I wear my jacket with black pants and skirts as well.

I like it too Anchie. Have had a hankering myself for a white corduroy blazer this year but held off because nowhere to wear ;). I find this look modernizes corduroy and 'softens' big doses of white (which is important to me but probably less so to you with your coloring).

There is an old Ray Bradbury story called The Wonderful Ice-Cream Suit, about five poor men who share the suit, and how it brings them luck, or love, or both. (About 40 years before the traveling pants!) So naturally I am all in for the corduroy suit. I love the high-contrast top, too.

I have ivory corduroy pants that I wear all winter without fear. If it is slushy I tuck them into tall boots for the commute. But I think corduroy washes really well, especially if you turn it inside out before drying.

I'm all for an off-white or cream suit -- that would be amazing. But corduroy does not sound like an ideal fabric to me. Seasonless stretch wool can be washed by machine and air dryed. I've done it! (Not with white, but with taupe and blue.)
