White Blazer - a Summer Staple?

We all know that a black blazer very well could be the most versatile jacket in your wardrobe, particularly for a modern classic style. How about the white blazer? Is it a wardrobe essential, too? I'm interested in your views on the white blazer - do you have one? Why/why not? How often do you wear it and with what?

I don't own a white topper of any sort but I have been considering one as I think it would be very useful for me. I need more jackets due to our cool weather and I think toppers can make outfits interesting. I think you might get some good wear from a white blazer.

I have a white blazer that I wear a lot in the summer and I've even worn the blazer in winter as a sort of winter white thing even though it's a summery fabrication (lightweight and unlined). It has a little bit of blush ruffle at the bottom so it's more flirty than businessy. It works for both casual and more dressy summer outfits. I don't wear a lot of white bottoms (I have one skirt, but that's it) so I like to have something white on top (the blazer or my denim jacket) to make things more summery.

Anyway, I think for maximum flexibility you need something that is lightweight and breathable. I'd say a light linen or cotton (or blends with these fibers) in a woven fabrication is best.

Yes! I regret buying the pink rather than a white blazer last summer... I also find a light cream colour wonderful - I can throw it on over a black column and it can bear a few more marks/dust than white at a long day at the office... I did just acquire a(nother) white denim jacket as well... The secret for all is finding something that doesnt counteract everything by having a hot polyester lining... and which can wash a lot - well I am in humid climate so ability to wash frequently is paramount!

I think white blazer would be a workhorse in my wardrobe. I am on the lookout for one. I currently own a white denim jacket which i wear a lot in spring/summer

I had a white blazer on my spring/summer wish list but have yet to find what I'm looking for. I'm now wondering if I even need it. I have my white leather jacket for cooler days and a white denim jacket as well.

But I'm still yearning for a longer almost boyfriend style white blazer. Not too structured.

I have a 3/4 sleeve unlined white blazer that I wear in the summer for an extra layer that makes some summer dresses and tees/tanks work appropriate.

I just bought a white blazer for the summer...it's very casual twill and I love it. The color is "sailcloth" so it is not bight white. I have a hankering for a very crisp white one too, however, I do not lead a crisp white life! I think a white blazer would be a great edition to your classic wardrobe.

Yes yes yes! I think a white topper/blazer is super. I have three white toppers (leather, blazer, short trench) and although they are each a little different and they are all staying in the closet! ( ... reminding me to mend the lost button on the blazer and wear it this week.... )

I have a very light weight slub cotton "blazer" style topper that I wore a lot last summer and have started wearing this year as well. I would like a slightly more structured one but it has to be very light weight for me, unlined, and not linen because I can't live with the wrinkling. These restrictions have made it hard to find one.

I find blazers in white, navy, tan and charcoal grey to be real spring/summer workhorses for me. I almost bought a brighter pink shade myself but decided I'm really more of a neutral lover and can only wear bright color in small pops at a time.

Oh, yes - I love my white toppers - white denim jacket, white blazer, white tuxedo jacket. Not only for summer, but I love them in the spring and early fall as well. I actually find them to be more versitile than black (for me anyway).

I live in blazers for work so of course I have several white ones in my closet. I have a schoolboy with black piping, a white denim (blazer style) and a basic white blazer. I wore my one last year to death and plan to again. I think it would work very well with your style ingunn. OH I also have several cream/ivory ones too.

For your climate, I think it would be ideal. For mine, a little less -- I have a white denim jacket that I love, but in our summers it is often too hot to wear it, so it is more a spring item for me. Even so, I am considering adding a dressier white topper to my wardrobe as well.

For me yes but not white-white--cream colors, natural linen-y colors work better but this is a complexion and wardrobe color palette issue, so it's the same idea.
I have 3 in different styles & fabrications and need to remember, no more until time to replace.

For me a white blazer is a summer essential. I have (gulp) three of them! And a white denim jacket. And I wear them all. They're different lengths and degrees of dressiness, so I don't consider it duplicating- or at least that's how I rationalize it.

Had to laugh at Angie's lab coat comment. I want an oversized white blazer. There was one by Acne that I wanted, but my size seems to sold out.

I bought an off white linen blazer, unlined, in Paris a few years ago. I hadn't worn it all that much, but I think my dry cleaners stretched it out a bit. It's at the tailor right now, and I have grand plans for it!

Diana looks so cute in hers with the jeans. I think I'll have to get some new cropped jeans and copy cat her!

Yep - been searching a few years now. No luck with finding just what I want. I do have a crop white cotton denim-like jacket that gets plenty of use in the meantime, though.

I bought a white linen blazer last year but it was a bit too hot for the summer because of the lining. On the other hand, thin knit blazers are perfect (I have one in red).

I also found that the most versatile white topper for me is something cropped (I have a cropped white denim jacket) because it works better with dresses. I like regular style blazers with pants but my summer pants last year were mostly white jeans so I preferred different color blazers.

So I guess it depends on what the rest of your summer wardrobe looks like.
