White after Labor Day?

I am probably dating myself, but whatever. Is the old adage "Never wear white after Labor Day" still current?

Take that a step further... should one still wear white shoes after Labor Day?

I did, just the other day! They were even sandals.

I think the rules are fading , and Labor Day isn't a hard target. Sept 20 is after and so is October but I view those differently. I think shoes are hardest to fit in to fall outfit vibes, though I loved cobaltblue's party outfit. Also depends on your climate.

I grew up with the "no white after Labor Day" and it's so ingrained in me that I have a hard time making myself do it! LOL but I do think that's dated.

I think the 'rules' are shifting too! Perhaps not all white, but a white clothing item is perfectly fine in my book! As for white shoes,IMO it would depend on how they are made and what they are being worn with.

I did not grow up with this so it is not hard for me to break
I wore not just white shoes but almost white outfit on September 9 and will wear it again until weather cooperates.

I think that rule is best honored in the breach these days! Wear your white shoes proudly!

Well, I wore this in FL August 29th last year, so not quite Labor Day but darn close. Didn't get any funny sideways glances. I am a CA girl at heart, though, so I may not be the best to ask. I also wore this (pic2) the week before Christmas in Tahoe. White shoes!!
I've worn my white jeans in the dead of snowy winter with boots, and again, no sideways glances in the grocery store. The only person to comment was my BF. 53 years old, born in Miami and raised in KY. So maybe there is an older southern element at play.

Does anyone else think of Kathleen Turner whenever this topic comes up?

I don't have any white shoes. I've been starting to wonder if I'm missing out by not having any, particularly since I now have a white leather jacket I can't wait to wear.

I plan on wearing white pants on Monday, and I live in Chicago. I will pair them with a cobalt striped sweater and metallic shoes.

I have these light colored snake print pumps (almost bone colored) that I wore with a suit last fall, and I felt so self conscious. LOL! Old habits die hard sometimes.

I will wear my white jeans in fall/winter as well as my white Doc shoes, though they are not a bright optic white.

White jeans with 1. black turtle and black linen trench 2. black moto
white skirt with black leopard tank and black moto.

BUT, once it starts raining I do not wear the white jeans. They get spots from walking in the rain.
