Which would you choose?

When chewyspaghetti asked about your current obsessions, i should have also mentioned a navy jersey or fleece jacket/blazer. I’m looking for something less than a blazer but more than a sweatshirt. Something that’s more smart casual than plain casual. Over the last year or so, I’ve ordered a couple of things i thought could work, but so far what I’m looking for has eluded me.
Anyway, I’ve found 2 more that I’m thinking of trying, and wondering what you think. As you can see, they are both very different. I have no personal experience with the 1st company, so looking for any feedback on The White Company. The 2nd is from a company that Angie highlight a year or so ago, and i bought some pants which i really like.
As you can see, these are very different silhouettes and wondering what you think….or if you have any other ideas?

Both jackets look very tempting - love the pockets and contrasting buttons on the first one. I have Nick & Zoe soft grey-blue jacket that works well in between seasons - soft navy jacket would be great new piece. Post more if you'll go ahead with ordering ( I never tried those brands ).

I like both!

I'd order both in and see which you prefer, and which works better with your wardrobe. The lengths are very different, and each with their advantages.

Slim cat…as part of my will this be the one ordering from last year, i did try 2 Nick & Zoe pieces, and they were sooo close, but neither was exactly what i was looking for.
Angie, i might/probably will end up ordering both, but as i think they both ship from over seas, i thought I’d solicit feedback 1st to see if there was any thing thought that pushed me squarely in one direction.

#1 for me.l find that a knitted jacket in this shape is really useful.It bridges the gap between a more formal blazer and a more casual sweat top.It is the sort of jacket l get the most use out of for my casual lifestyle.Hope this helps with the decision.

I would try both too — but the first seems like it would layer underneath easier, the second seems more fitted.

My equivalent is this jacket in Finds. Inexpensive, comfortable and polished — it became an immediate workhorse! So much so that when I saw the same style but with a hood and in grey, I bought that too!

For me it would be about silhouette and season/ purpose. # 1 is too boxy for my shape but not for you I think, and too short for me except for with something like wide legged pants or maybe a midi skirt. Also would generally be wearing full length pants with fabric that is warm knit. Blazer style works with more pants for me but agree would not want it to look too dressy so eithe fabric or details needed to casualize it.
So you might want to pull out some of the outfits you’d expect to wear with it and you probably have some toppers is similar styles that might work as stand- ins to try on for silhouette.

Janet, yes, i came really close to ordering that jacket after you found it, but i do want something that has the option to close if needed. And Talbots had one that was looked like it would have worked, but never found it in my size…

I really like the Saint and Sofia, probably because I love asymmetric details and the off-center zipper when it’s closed is one of my favorite design features.

I like #1. I also am finding I would like to find something more like smart casual. Something warm enough, not fleece or sweatshirt casual, not blazer dressy, etc. Everything seems to be too heavy or linen, so fabric is also an issue. Currently I only have my bulky cardi that I posted a while ago.

The link to the first failed. The second looks very promising, although the zipper makes it more like a fleece than a jacket. Definitely worth a try though.

I suspect you’re looking for something rather special. I say this because the pieces I have that do what you describe are all quite high end, typically either thrifted or very fortuitous sale purchases. This is why I like a vintage blazer. Have you looked at lightweight tweed?

l prefer #1. The second jacket gives me pause because in the photo it reads as a very dull navy with a flat finish. Take that with a grain of salt; I am super picky about shades of navy, and that one would not pass my color filter. That might not matter to you at all. The shape of #2 is attractive, and I can see each one of them working for you.

Those all look pretty great and versatile. It would be hard to choose a favorite. I spotted and ordered this one while browsing on the sale stuff at ralphlauren.com. It's belted, which I like, and is also hand-washable, which I also liked. I'm looking forward to getting it to see if it might work.

Xtabay, that RL one looks great, i hope it works! In my searching i did find something form RL that i came debated ordering, but it was a little more “sweater” like than what I’m looking for. I also found this one from, from m.m.lafleur which is looks very similar to what you’ve ordered but was more than i want to spend, and maybe a smidge more dressy than what I’m aiming for.
Kate, i have navy pants for Saint and Sofia, and IRL that navy is a smidge brighter than i looks on line, and I’m hoping this is the same.
approprio, yes i suspect that this will be an piece that i find a lot of almost, and given keep an almost or two before finding the “this is it” piece…I’ve tried, and continue to try TheRealReal and Vestiaire collective, because I think this piece is out there, most likely from a small brand that i’ve never heard of…in the mean time, that search lead me to this awesome beaded silk bomber jacket, that was just perfect for a dinner honoring my mom.

I ended up ordering both…so stay tuned

What came to mind was Patagonia’s Better Jacket, not the Better Sweater. I have it in an ocean/teal, but it also came in grey and in navy. It’s fleece, but looks a little nicer than a regular fleece. If they were smart they would bring it back.

I like the first jacket best because of the higher neckline. The second jacket has very different looks when worn zipped up or open. Zipped up it will really emphasize your breasts. I used to have a similar silhouette jacket with angled zipper. Even being small busted it was too body con. Open was ok but it was cold. See what you think. It may look completely different on you. Mine was not a knit but had a bit of stretch. I took it on a trip and mostly wrote it under a puffer jacket, even inside.

I like #1 the best for what you describe. #2 looks a bit like what I often wear as a gym warm-up jacket, especially when zipped up. In the photo of it looking like a jacket, the model is clutching it - and that gives me pause for it worn open/jacket style. I very much like the beaded bomber you ordered!

KKards, I have this jacket (actually one of my older pieces), but it is such a wardrobe workhorse because when in doubt it just seems to work. I bought it from JCrew, a dupe of a Gucci design. Not sure if they have something similar.

I am interested in seeing which one works out for you, if either. From the pictures and descriptions, the first one looked promising. I have a jacket made of sweatshirt material but looks like a blazer. It has been a workhorse.

I am a little late to the party but I really like #2. There is a version with orange stripes on the shoulder that is right up my alley!
I like Angie's suggestion, too. The collar is wonderful.

What you want is similar to what I want in black, as my soft black jacket is getting so tired but I keep wearing it! I bought a $15 thrifted soft blazer as well but it is slightly tight.
Of the two you have shown, I like the second one better. It will be interesting to see which is better in person.
