Which size Equipment shirt?

So here are two sizes of the Equipment Signature shirt I tried. The blue is M and the fuschia is S. I'd love to get your feedback on which fits better. Or maybe neither of them? Apologies for messy hair/no make-up look -- it's been a long day.

FYI, I would wear it with the sleeves rolled up.

I have a *slight* preference for the drape of the M. I wouldn't be against getting the S, though.

They don't look that dramatically different to me. I prefer the blue shirt, but I don't know if it's the color or fit or both.

If you prefer to tuck these shirts in a lot, then I'd go with S, since tucking that much material is a pain. If you leave it untucked mostly, the length of the M is nice.

I think they both work, but I have a preference for the small. The medium seems just a touch long on you. But I have a lower threshhold for oversize than many people here, so I expect I'll be in the minority.

I think the M fits better. I actually thought the pink one was bigger before I looked at the sizes....so I think it must be the drape like Adelfa said. I love my Equipment blouses! I have a signature in a washed navy that just goes with everything!

I like the drape of the M but the length of the S. I don't think there is enough of a difference in fit to make either the clear winner so would go with whichever feels best to you.

Both are lovely colors on you.

I am really unsure about the size. It has a bit of a dropped shoulder, correct?

I actually LIKE oversize (a lot) but have a higher tolerance for it when it is structured a bit, and a drapey shirt loses that structure. So the length of the blue would bother me (for me) -- but again, I have a poison eye for myself in tunic lengths for some reason.

Hmmm. I hope some Equipment shirt wearers will weigh in. All I know is I want you to keep at least one of these beauties!

I was going to say also that the small seems a better fit, but it's really a smidgen of difference. I own an Equipment shirt and I'm swimming in it (no petite sizes, unfortunately). I think either loose or more form-fitting can both work to different intentions. I like the color of the blue one more, of course

I like the fit of the S on the shoulders and overall except I do like the M where it drapes over your tush. Have you thought about try the M in petite?

The S looks plenty big enough, but for some reason I am leaning toward M. What does your gut say?

I really couldn't tell a difference between the two sizes maybe if the colors had been the same it would have been easier to tell the differences, but I much prefer the lovely cobalt blue color. Gorgeous!

I have a slight preference for the length and slouch of the cobalt--and a strong preference for the colour! This will be a great piece for you and your style, I think.

I just wanted to add that Raisin makes a good point -- I wore my black Signature shirt yesterday and tucked it into jeans, and it's already a good amount of fabric to tuck. In theory, I could have worn this shirt in a medium, but I'm glad I went for the small.

If you don't intend to tuck, feel free to ignore me.

I like the medium. It seems to drape better. The difference is very subtle but I can see it from the back and around the armholes/pocket area. I also prefer the blue on you but prolly because I'm partial to it anyway. Great blouse!

Great feedback everyone! seems like fit is definitely a personal preference. I'm leaning toward the blue (love the color) and the oversize fit. Wish it were a bit shorter/less fabric for tucking though. Too bad they don't come in petite sizes!

I might slightly prefer the fit of the S, but only because this forces me to look v.e.r.y closely and decide.

Another option, is I had one of my Equipment blouses shortened! They followed the original contours but took off 2 inches (if I remember right). This particular blouse I wanted to wear under sweaters with tails hanging out and the tails were just too long.

I really do love the blue one on you, beautiful colour. I usually size down in the signature fit, but I really like the oversized look as well.

I would say, buy your normal size, the shirt is already cut oversized. I think they both look great, I would just make sure that the buttons on the S do not gape when you move your arms around.

I actually size down on the Brett fit and buy TTS on the signature ( pockets)

I would go for the S in the blue.

Hm, interesting about the fit of the two types of shirt, Zap! For some reason I think someone (Una?) said she did the opposite -- sized down on the Signature and up with the Brett. Or perhaps I am remembering.

Anyhow, M would be my normal shirt size -- the S does gape/pull a bit in the chest area. I have a hard time finding buttondown shirts that fit well in that area.

I get an S in Brett, XS in Signature. It is rare for me to be an XS on top, but I wore one of mine the other day and there is still a slight shoulder drop even with my IT shoulders! I have noticed some variation in XS by color too. Honestly, both of these look good on you so I think it's just a question of what look you want!

I am not sure either fit is ideal. Are you petite, Cathy? Because I had a problem with Equipment's fit as a petite, so I went with Nexx, and the S fit perfectly. Just a thought!

OMG, that's weird. Well, the Brett ( Dot daddy) was huge and I had to size down to XS. All of my Signatures ( I have 3) are a size small. Perhaps that particular Brett was huge. SMH. I am typically a size S on tops.

Laura -- I'm about your height, 5'3", but I don't generally wear petite clothing. I've tried the Nexx silk shirts but have a problem with them pulling at the chest when the shoulders fit. I'm thinking the only way I can wear most buttondowns is with an oversized fit.

Zap -- Goes to show, one always needs to try on different sizes!

Zap - I think anything with Daddy in the style was even more oversized than Signature.

The regular Brett is not as over sized as the regular Signature. I take S in Signature, M in Brett, S or XS in Daddy, and now they've started putting out Slim Signature and from what I can tell, I'd take M. Whew!!

Then if you get into their cashmere, I take M in Sloane solid color, S in Sloan print, S or XS in Asher, and so it goes . . .

Yes, always need to try on. (And that doesn't even take into account that not all Ms are created equal, etc.)
