Which size? And, keep or return a fashion-forward leather jacket

I have really appreciated your help with my fashion decisions lately! I have done a lot of YLF-inspired shopping.

So still feeding on the Comptoir Des Cotonniers lookbook, I was inspired to order this classic double-breasted overcoat. I ordered it in both size 0 and 2. I wonder which you think looks better. The '2' is pictures 3-5, I think, and the '0' is pictures 6-8. If you hate both, that's an okay answer too. (I also ordered a polkadot scarf à la MaryK, but I didn't want to cover the coat up in the photo.)

Also, what do you think about this leather jacket I ordered from ASOS? It's a dark grey and a *very* lightweight leather (i.e. more for looks than for warmth). I want it to be a 10 if I am going to keep it. (I'm going to keep my mouth shut for now, but I will say that I regret that there is no smaller size.)

ETA: I just realized that the collar of the black coats has one of those little extra pieces meant to keep the top fastened, which is just hanging out in the photos. Sorry. I was in a rush, as always.

It is so hard to see the black in pictures...I think I like the smaller size as it fits better in the shoulder?

I vote keep the jacket. You can wear it with dresses, skirts, trousers...the color is great and it will add a cool edge to lots of basic stuff.

It all depends on how you want to layer under the coat, Stephanie. Are you wearing the appropriate layers underneath the smaller size ?

Yes, sorry, I should have said, I'm layered up (i.e. in the way I normally am when I wear a winter coat, which is to say, wearing a sweater and a camisole). The same way in all the black coat pictures.

And you are going to LOVE that polka-dot scarf! I think mine is the most-worn item in my entire wardrobe!

I vote for the size 0 as well; just as long as you dont plan on sticking a hoodie or something under it Lovely jacket!

Great jacket - definitely keep. If the coat in smaller size feels comfortable with layers and you can move your arms freely in it then keep the smaller size; otherwise go with the bigger size. This is my usual criteria for coats anyway

The smaller size looks trimmer and if you don't feel like a stuffed sausage, then I vote smaller.

Love that leather jacket for its fashion forwardness, but it does look pretty loose. It reminds me of cascading cardis. But you said it is lightweight and maybe the cardi situation is where you would wear it?

Definitely the smaller size, and love the leather jacket too. ASOS is a total pitfall for those on SYC - I always see things I love there. Both of these items are lovely!

Keep both, I agree with others, if your layers fit under the smaller size, then go for it.

First, I have to be honest and say that I'm not thrilled with the leather jacket - hard to put a finger on why ... maybe the fit?

I *love* the coat - it's a classic and you need to keep it - forever and ever. I will swim against the tide, though - to my eye, the larger size is better for a couple of reasons that I can see: the sleeves are a better length (the sleeves on the smaller seem too short, and you will forever have sweater and shirt cuffs showing, the minute you move your arms) and it looks like a coat - to be worn over clothes - as opposed to a coat dress, which is worn as an outfit itself.

Either way, though - you cannot go wrong. Love.

The black coat looks great--hard to tell about the fit of the two different sizes, just because of how dark everything is.

I'm on the fence about the leather jacket. I like the general idea of it, but somehow it seems to make your neck look shorter (maybe because of the statement shoulders?).
