(updated) Extra urgent now! Which shoes with this outfit for dinner tonight?

Heading down to the city tonight for a friend's birthday dinner at a nice restaurant tonight. I don't think it's really formal or anything, but it's NYC nonetheless. Trying to decide between these 2 shoes...first a naturalizer wedge, the second a Lucky pewter gladiator. Thoughts?

Crap, we're about to leave and my boyfriend says I might not be dressy enough, and maybe just "bring a dress" ?!?!

The place is called Butter...anyone been there or can tell by their site the dress code? Would a maxi skirt be ok? I literally have like 15 minutes to figure this out!

I like the gladiators for the outfit you're wearing.

From the name of the restaurant, I'd guess it's sort of a twist-on-comfort-food place, so probably not super dressy. So I'd think a maxi skirt would be fine.

We have a place here called MEAT and it's a slightly fancier place - I think you're dressy enough with a maxi skirt.

I also like the gladiators.

It's NYC in the middle of the summer, how dressy can it be? Since it's NYC, are you going to be doing a lot of walking? Wear the most comfortable pair

That's the restaurant owned by Alex guarnescelli...(sp.?) on the food network...she's on iron chef and several other shows. Lucky you! Wear the gladiators, I don't think you need to wear a dress. Have fun.

Yes, that's the one, retailgirl! I think I'll wear the gladiator, bring both outfits, and decide on the drive down!

Another vote for the Lucky's. The first are too *Brooklyn.* Lol. Butter's got a hipster-touched aesthetic, no? I think the maxi would be nice.

I vote for the skirt and the neutral sandals. Have fun!!!! And tell us how formal this place is in case I end up going there too.

Rachylou, I think most of NY, including Brooklyn, has that "hipster-touched aesthetic," lol. The skirt is proving to be very comfy for the ride down, too! Also, totally driving (well, passengering) through Paramus right now (I was just talking about how that was the closest Nordstrom to me in another post). I'll have to save that for another trip!

We had a great time yesterday downstate! And I'm glad I did go with the maxi skirt outfit...The weather was so beautiful and breezy, and the outfit was a perfect fit for that. The restaurant was really nice, and we ate lots of great food. I'd say that about 60% of the patrons were dressed up somewhat...like dressy/put together but not formal (we were in this category), about 20% were more formal, and 20% were embarrassingly underdressed (very casual t-shirts, baseball hats kept on, tank tops, very casual jeans/shorts). The underdressed people really stuck out like a sore thumb. I dunno, if you're going to splurge on an expensive dinner, wouldn't you want to dress up a bit (or at least feel obligated to)?

After dinner we walked to Central Park, and took a gondola ride on the lake (sounds so cheesy and touristy, but it was actually really really nice). The weather was beautiful and the "supermoon" was out. Such a gorgeous night.

So thanks everyone for the replies and opinions, the outfit and the day were winners for sure!
