Which shoes with parachute pants?

So a couple of days ago I thrifted a pair of parachute pants, dark blue with white stitching and buttons. What style shoes are you guys wearing with yours?

Do the pants taper at the hems, Star? Are they cropped, or full length?

A girl at my work just got some batik patterned parachute pants (or harem pants, really), and she is pairing them with Converse high tops, and that is super cute.

When I google parachute pants, all these pants are paired with equally strong footwear. So combat boots or Timberlands, sneakers or platform sandals.

If I were trying to be more conservative, I might go with a pair of ankle cowboy boots, or dark strappy sandals.

I’ve seen lots of wider or baggier pants and jeans on the internet with Mary Jane strap ballet flats lately.

It's the fabric is heavier and or darker, I would wear them with lace-up boots, like Doc martens. If they're lighter, drapier fabric, I would wear high top sneakers.

Mine are cotton, but on the heavier side -- I wear them autumn, winter, early spring but not from mid-spring through summer.

I wear them with boots, booties, and (rarely) sneakers. But many people like them better with a more refined shoe, for juxtaposition (e.g. a pump). I tried that but for me it doesn't work, partly because of the fabric weight (I would consider it if these were satin parachute pants, say -- or even nylon). And partly because I wear them casually and need to be able to walk. So my solutions are fairly casual footwear.

Angie full length, with adjustable ties, not much taper. I like them tied with a medium circumference - not too tight to avoid a big puff. Not stiff or drapey material, kind of real parachute material (cotton with a little elastine, has a bit of a sheen), but very light, yet not floppy IYKWIM. I may have to keep them for summer only. I will post pics when I can.

I agree with Carol and think they would look good with strong footwear, as she put it. For summer, I picture them with lug sole sandals.

Thank you everyone for your input! I agree with the heavier footwear idea. I have some mini platform chunky sandals and some birkie-style sandals that I think will work for summer. My Puma gum soles should work. I do have blue combat boots. I love edgy but don't want a too masculine look so need to be aware of that. I will do a try on soon with the various footwear I have and take some pics and you can see and tell me what you think. In the mean while if anyone else has ideas please continue to share.

I'm kind of excited to see ballet flats trending again, so I would vote for those, too, if the fabric of your pants is at least a little bit drapey.

My version is rayon harem pants, and really don't think they'd work with anything but sandals. Maybe sandal booties.

I am wearing pointy-toed or square-toed boots while it's cold, and plan to wear chunky sandals, clogs, and pointy-toed mules when the weather warms up.

Sneakers are the obvious answer, but you could do the ‘wrong shoe theory’ and go with a dressy shoe
