I ordered and tried the Banana Republic high waisted, wide leg jeans, hoping they would be like the ones I’ve been searching for. I ordered my usual size.
They are not stretchy at all. The denim is heavy but soft. I’m not sure why the legs are shaped with a bump out at the top of the thigh. That big outward bump is the pants, not my thighs. The rise is so long that they feel droopy in the crotch, while being rather too tight for bending or breathing. I don’t think that sizing up would make them look better.
For comparison, my slim-skinny, slightly stretchy, lower cut, soft black jeans from Kohl’s. I wouldn’t mind a bit higher rise, but I definitely prefer my shape in the black jeans.
