Which pair of glasses do you like best? ETA: Vogue pair

Hi everyone! I would really appreciate your help in choosing my new glasses.
Please excuse the awkward pictures!

1- Converse, brown pair. I'm leaning towards these the most, actually! Even though I look incredibly sad in the picture D: I'm not sure what happened to the better picture of this pair.

2- DKNY- tortoiseshell. I like these a lot, although I'm not sure about the color with my skin. Also, when I smile, my cheeks hit the bottom rim and push them up.

3- DKNY- LOVED the feel of these...but the look? Not so sure. Maybe a little too 60s geek chic for me? Or at least for every day. I also feel like people may not take me seriously in these. However, I could just wear my wire rims for interviews and important business-y occasions.

4- My current glasses for comparison!

ETA: 5- Vogue. My mom just texted me this last one that I'd forgotten about. Any better?

I like the first pair too. I like the shape of 2 on you but your eyes don't look centered in the lens. I think that's kind of a deal breaker. You are so pretty!

#1 is PERFECT! Please get these! The pattern is too broken up in #2 and agree with kellygirl that your eyes are not centered and the frame is too big for your face. And #3 doesn't follow the shape of your face as well. But #1 is just the right color, shape and size for your face--I love it! You look smashing!

I think 1 is the pair that fits you best. Your eyes should be in the middle of the frame and in the others they are not. Those frames are sitting too low on your face.
You could go up in size a little bit from the first pair, but not too much larger.

#1 because they fit your face better, but you can ask if they make #2 in a smaller frame size. My optometrist yelled at me for picking frames that are too big.

Luckily I got a pair that are plastic/wire hybrid - mine are plastic frames with nose pads. Ugh, the hunt for glasses is hard, I feel you!

I am going with the crowd and picking #1 too! I like the idea of 2 but they are a tad big.

I like 1. I am an outlier and like 3 also!

I like #2 best, but only if the shape can be adjusted so that it's not slipping off your nose. Shape #3 is very flattering, but not quite as fun.

I'm not sure the bridge on #2 can be adjusted. That's an all-plastic frame right? From what I learned, only the ones with nose pads can be adjusted, so make sure the bridge fits you right. I like the shape of #2 but they seem too deep for your eyes to center. I'd have to go with 1 or 3 as a second choice. (Or keep looking!)

I like #2 best, also. But they may be a bit deep for your face if your cheeks push them up. Or they may be the wrong size.

There are different bridge sizes as well as overall frame widths. If you get the measurements on these you might see what your ideal bridge width is. Bridge width CAN be adjusted a little bit by an expert optician, but it is tricky.

As for the weight of plastic frames, I hear you. My nose is quite flat bridged and ALL glasses (even the ones with adjustable nose pads) seem to fall down on me, despite expert fittings and adjustments. I have never been able to wear my glasses for a full day without getting a headache. Please note that I have a very high prescription and even extra thin lenses are quite thick for me. My solution is to wear contact lenses part of the time.

Attn all: My mom just texted me this last photo. I edited this post to add the last pair of glasses, which are black and cat-eye like the second. How do you like them? I'm warming up to them but still wary. Also, #2 was taken at a wonky angle, which might explain the off-centered look.

Suz- Thank you for your advice! I have a moderately high prescription (-5 and -6) and my extra thin lenses are also very thick. I haven't tried wearing contacts yet, but I'm going to try them when I go to order my frames. I'm sorry to hear about your headaches!

I do like #3 better on your face after pursuing your update. Let us know what you decide.
I got LASIK in 2005 when I had -4/-5 vision so I feel your pain. I went from wearing hard contacts and soft when I played sports to no glasses and now needed specs for relaxing my eyes in front of a computer. Still getting used to it but I'm 20/20 pretty much.

I still like 3, but you have found some good options I think.

I keep debating doing LASIK. I am -10.25 and -9.75 and even with the thinnest highest index lenses my glasses are heavy. But, I have dry eyes also recently so I think this past year my eye doctor said I wasn't a good candidate any more.

Ceit - your prescription is a lot like mine! But I need progressives now, too...

I am not a candidate for regular LASIK because of that high prescription. They have to do a different procedure (more like cataract surgery) and it is much more costly and carries risk of retinal detachment. Since my mother has a detached retina, I felt the risk was too high (not to mention the price tag!!) But I might reconsider.

Yeah I have a high risk of retinal detachment too, plus thin corneas. Blech.
