Which pair of boots?

So I'm doing some homework on boots. I've dropped some not-so-subtle hints and my husband is going to get them for me for Christmas but wants me to pick them out so I'm sure I like them. I'm looking for good quality but I'd like them to be extremely versatile (can wear both with jeans and with dresses/skirts), comfortable and a colour that will work well with most everything. I wear primarily jeans on the weekends and then during the work week, dress pants/skirts/dresses. From what little you know about my style based on what you've seen, what would you recommend? Do any of you have these boots and if so, what do you think of them?

Well since one pair are wedges and the others are flat i think you actually need TWO pairs of boots. I love those wedge Dr. Martens! But flat boots might be more versatile? Do you already have a lot of flat boots? Or a lot of heeled boots?

I find a taller boot to be more versatile. Of the ones you posted, I am drawn to the last pair of Dr. Ms but am not sure they would be a go-to with anything but pants.

They are all quite different. I love Docs, but the first pair would transcend more outfits IMO. 6pm.com has the best prices on Docs. I've gotten all of mine for under $60. (maybe that way your DH will buy you more than one

Oh....I LOVE the Docs and know you'd look Kick-@@s in those but I think the Ms. Mooz are the most versatile and would be great with many of your outfits. Also I have heard fab things about their comfort levels. Just the other night a woman at my meeting was waxing poetic about those. At that moment she was wearing HAND MADE shoes...so believe me, she does not speak lightly about comfort.

I have a pair of MM Pacey boots that have a similar heel to the the pair you posted. I've only worn them with jeans--they make me feel frumpy with skirts for some reason. That's just my personal feeling though. I love the Dr. Martens you posted too. Have you thought about the 14 eyelet lace up in a fun color perhaps?

Nicole - I probably have equal numbers of heeled and flat boots so I'm not sure that helps. I like your idea of two pairs (lol)!

Dianthus - those boots are GORGEOUS! Are these the ones you bought? Are they comfortable? Fit true to size? Seriously...I would consider these.

Jjsloane - I'll have to check into 6 pm.com - I wonder if they deliver to Canada?

Suz - hand made shoes? Can you imagine - they must be amazing! (and thanks for the kick a** reference - too funny!) But I agree - I think the MM are more versatile.

Shannon, they are the same brand but might be a very slightly different style. I have skinny calves (13" or so) and they actually fit. I have two pairs because I wore the red so much I decided to get the black too. I am almost always an 8.5 and these are a 9, I think. I have room for socks in them so am sure the 8.5 would have fit well too. I love these boots and they have been worn more than any other pair I own.

I may wear them tomorrow with khaki pants a la MaryK.

Oh shoot Dianthus - I have fairly thick calves and need a 14" or better to fit, depending on the height. My guess is they'd be too narrow.

Is your work wear pretty conservative, Shannon? These boots look more on the casual side. Is this what you are after?

That's a good point Sveta. II think my work wear probably does border on conservative, although I'm trying to push my comfort zone/boundaries a little. There's definitely no jeans allowed except on Denim Days. Is there such a thing as a boot that's between conservative and casual???
