Which pair of booties?

I desperately need some fall shoes to wear with my skirts and jeans. I don't have booties so far so I thought I should invest in a pair.

I found the Ecco ones first and I really like the look of them, but I was hesitating because of the price. They also might run too narrow for me feet. Then I found similar ones by Ara that are 40 € cheaper and come in a normal/wide width. The only thing I don't like about the Ara booties is the look of the zipper, I think the Ecco booties look much better in that regard.

Which pair do you think I should try? Do you have a preference?

I though about trying the black ones because they should go with everything.

I think they both look great. I would probably try the Ara's first since it sounds like they have a higher chance of fitting properly and being comfortable.

I like both for you, although my first choice would be the Ecco's based on visual assessment only. I agree they look slightly better. However, both fit, comfort and price is equally important, so if the boxes are more easily ticked on this with the Ara's, they will be the better choice.

Astrid, these are very nice boots, but from what I've seen of your style, I can't picture you wearing them! They look too masculine for your feminine style. I know you have different brands in Germany, but I like these styles for you. I hope this helps

ETA: I think brown will be the most versatile with your wardrobe, or maybe grey.

Funny. These don't look masculine to me. I guess because they are refined. I like both, Astrid. The brown Aras might bookend your hair really nicely and would look great with denim. Black would extend the legline with dark trousers and tights. So it's a tough call. I think you need to try both for comfort!

Thanks Liz. I like the first pair you linked to, but I do think that the styles above would work well in my wardrobe. I'm more tomboy than girly girl and I think these are fairly classic. I even like boots that are way more UWP like the ones below, although they wouldn't go with everything. I wore my classic black knee high riding boots to death.

Thanks Suz! You're right, the brown Aras might bookend well, although they do look a bit too dark on my screen. I do wear mostly black tights with my skirts in fall and winter though, so the black might be more flattering.

I've got some black ankle booties on order myself (LE on a tip from pil) so I am reading with interest here Astrid. I also like both - they are similar, so if the Aras might fit better and are at a better price point, I'd definitely try those first. I don't see them as too masculine either, but I guess I have a bit of a tomboy streak myself.

I think both of the booties will work with your wardrobe, and I found that with skirts and dresses, black was more versatile than brown - but I only wear black tights, essentially, so it was nice to have an elongated leg line!

I thought of trying the Ecco boots myself, but I might go with a pair of Borns this time

Liz, I love them too but they are way out of my price range if I also want to get a new coat. They are almost twice as much as the Aras.

Thanks Lyn! I think you're right, I mostly wear black tights myself and the black would elongate the leg line nicely. Born looks great from what I've seen online, but we don't have the brand here.

I think it makes a lot of sense to go with black if you wear black tights a lot (or burgundy or grey, etc.) I went with black myself because I have some older brown booties that are still "okay" in terms of condition and I wanted black to bookend with black jackets this fall. I only have one other pair of black shoes suitable for cooler weather so this was a big need for me too.

I get my Born on eBay, but they're fairly size consistent and I do take a risk - I've been burned once They don't carry Born in stores here either.

I don't have brown shoes to fall back on like you Texstyle, but I still think the black might be more versatile... I will invest in a pair for bookending sometime though.

I think these boots will work well with your style, to toughen up the boho a bit.
See which boots fit better. I like the look of the Eccos better but they are very similar so it wouldn't matter much aesthetics wise. Price matters too.
Truth be told, I bought a pair of Frye Phillip ankle harness boots recently and I could barely get them on when they arrived. Too stubborn to return them (to the US from Canada), I went to the shoe repair who stretched them for over a week. A little more wearing around the house with wet socks and now they fit pretty well. Sometimes being stubborn pays off, especially with a quality leather boot.
I can see you wearing the boots with a flowy long skirt, a jacket and scarf. Tough and pretty at the same time (to go with the recent team poll theme).
Color wise - a chocolate brown would be perfect. Goes well with black tights, grey tights, color tights, even better than black would. Chocolate is more versatile than black. Chocolate brown would hint at the color of your hair too, though a bit darker than your hair. It's good to have a darker color ground the outfit though.

I like the look of the Eccos better too and also thought brown would be better for bookending and leg lengthening. But you are a careful and smart shopper to realise you need to put your actual lifestyle and wardrobe workhorses as first consideration.

Thanks Rosee! I'm loving the outfit your decription calls to mind. Of course everything depends on fit. It's great that you could make your shoes work for you, but I have such fussy feet that I'm hesitating to buy don't fit perfectly from the start.

Thanks Manidipa! Mmh, I agree about bookending, but both the ones above would be the wrong color for bookending anyway. For that I'd need a light tan, a bit taupe maybe. My hair is a lot lighter than the brown shoes.

Not much to add here, except I do kinda like the little extra metal loop on the Aras. With that and the thicker strap, they look just a bit more casual or less refined. But in life, I think they'd go mostly with the same things as the Eccos. Wondering if there's a difference in shaft height, though?
I really like the ones with several buckles that you linked to, also. Different feel, more hip and less classic than the first two.

Thanks, Firecracker! Both don't have measurements online, so I can't say anything about the height. I'll have to try them with different bottoms to see whether they work out. And yes, those Think! boots are awesome. They cost 190€ though. I'm keeping an eye on them in case they ever go on sale, but they might end up being too expensive even marked down.
