Which outfit will work for a Mass and a bonus WIW

Hi everyone. I've been invited to a Mass and I'm not sure what to wear. My friend who invited us is very, very laid back style-wise and he's wearing a button down and slacks. Would either of these outfits work? And I've finally had a chance to use the awesome jacket I got from Janet! I think it helps both dresses look a little nicer and I have a feeling the church will be cool. The shoes are the ones I got today.

This is what I wore to dinner tonight. The gold necklace is the one I found at TJMaxx, which I way I could only justy 1 pair of shoes. I think it was good choice.

Either of these should be just fine for a Mass. In general I like the first dress better because the second one looks like the neckline shows too much expanse of chest, but I'm extra sensitive to this because I have this problem with lots of tops. You are probably right that the church will be cold unless really crowded. At our Sunday Masses you will see everything from casual shorts and jeans to suits and everything in between.

Yes, our Masses are like Joy's--people wear anything and everything. I think you'd feel very comfortable in either outfit. I usually wear nice slacks or a dress.

I like your outfits a lot I usually wear a dress or a skirt to Mass (I've been to a few when I dated someone who went), and I never felt too overdressed, but his church is somewhat more formal and the population skews older

I think either dress would work fine for Mass. I prefer # 1 because I think the colour looks really good on you. I generally like to wear a dress or skirt for Mass but I see everything from suits to jeans to shorts so I think you will look just fine.

First - green sets off the warmth of your lovely skin.

I agree that either would be fine for a mass; but as Joy already said I too would favor the green dress due the higher neckline.

I'm not the best person to chime in on Mass (went a few times with ex-fiancé 25 years ago!) but both of those look appropriate to me. I understand its gotten very casual in many churches!

Thanks everyone! I ended up wearing the green lace dress and I think it was a success. My BF complimented it and said he thinks I should wear that dress more often.

The green dress is gorgeous on you. It could be me, but the low neckline and the fact that it falls below your knees makes the dress in #2 look too big for you. Does it fit you well? To my eye the proportions are not quite right.

#1 because it's better to show your knees than your chest, haha! But I actually prefer #2 because I find the lace a little fancy.

I think the green dress is super flattering and would look great --it's a dress, so gives you points for trying, but very approachable-looking so.

@Molly - It's a touch big. I think I need to have it taken up and maybe taken in a little bit on the sides.
