Which of these purses do you like better--Burberry or LV?

I've been searching for a new purse/work tote and have narrowed it down to these two (unless you have any better suggestions!). The Burberry Medium Banner tote in Mahogany I've posted about before. I love the burgundy leather and the peek of Burberry check at the sides. Then while shopping downtown I also saw this Louis Vuitton Pallas. I don't own any LV, but I was really drawn to this one because I love the peekaboo red velvet accent. It also has two exterior side pockets which are handy for storing phone and keys, and it zips shut at the top so it's a little more secure. But it is canvas, not leather, and is more expensive. I also don't know if some people think logos are either too flashy or tacky (because of counterfeiters). I happen to like the monogram print. I love both burgundy and red, so not sure which one would look better on me. I'm torn. Which do you like better? Any advice or other suggestions? These also both come in smaller versions, but I think the larger size would be better for work.

I much prefer the Burberry, but I'm not crazy about visible patterned logos like the LV, so I am biased.

My vote goes Burberry. Understated elegance that will last a lifetime. If you want an occasional "flash", buy an LV wallet to go inside.

I love the Burberry myself. The touch of plaid is so fun. I think the LV bag is also pretty--like you, I'm drawn to the bit of red, plus the contrast handles. But I prefer the Burberry for its sleek, rich look.

I love the Burberry too! But I like LV as well. Unless your initials are "LV", I am biased against the Vuitton....but I like the Burberry one better anyway.

Wow, it's unanimous! I do love burgundy/oxblood. In fact it would go well with my outfit I'm wearing today. I will go take a look at it tomorrow! It's funny that LV has become known as "flashy". Maybe because it's so ubiquitous? At least around here anyways. Seems like a lot of the moms have one on their arms.

BlondeAmbition, that purse is gorgeous. I have a similar (much cheaper!) purse from Betsey Johnson in burgundy patent that I like to wear with my burgundy patent boots!

Ooh, I have to agree that if we were discussing a Miroir or an epi leather bag, or even a Danier, I'd be all over the LV. I love LV bags. It's just that the mono print has become so ubiquitous and so often faked that it isn't what it once was.

Well, I like them both! I'm generally anti-logo, but since I put the LV canvas in the same category as the Burberry check, I don't see "logo-itis" as a factor. I actually quite like the elegant functionality of the LV--the combination of a canvas exterior and velvet inside tickles my fancy. On the other hand, the Burberry has a wonderful combination of sporty and refined. Another thought --the plaid looks great against that beige coat, but how will it work with the other colours and patterns in your wardrobe?

I agree with SW Ann regarding your initials. I dislike things covered with initials or names that are not mine, such as Michael Kors stuff. He really plasters his name and initials on everything.

Last year we were in LAX waiting to board our plane to Istanbul and there was a mother and daughter in black robes and head scarves. Both of them had a ton of LV bags as their carryon luggage. I kind of felt like I was looking at a LV catalog. It was a sight to behold.

I think the logo is a wash because both are instantly recognizable brands.
I think they're both great, but maybe the Burberry will go better with more of your things? I think with the brown purse you'd have to do brown or tan shoes, wouldn't you? I'm not sure...
