Which looks best for an interview?

I have an interview this saturday for a new job that calls for a business casual look. I don't have any khakis only black dress pants or a few skirts. Since there are a lot of pictures they can just be ordered 1 thru 6 starting on the left. Thank you

Welcome to the forum Katie! You've done a great job of giving us a range of outfits to pick from for your interview.

I recommend #1. Or, wear the blue top in #5 with the rest of the outfit in #1. #2 is cute but too casual. #3 and #4 are a bit too flirty for a job interview, and although the length of the skirt in 4 and 5 is suitable, the lace reads a bit flirty to me as well. So that's why I recommend the pants and sweater ensemble in #1.

I am in my 50s and have worked with a more conservative dress code than someone your age though. So I *could * be a bit out of touch. Curious to hear what the others say.

I would recommend #1 with the pink/purple ruffly top and the black cardigan. A plain black skirt would be good, but the skirt in #2 is a bit too short. If it was about 1.5 to 2 inches longer it would be fine.

I work in a business casual environment with women of all ages and I agree with CL - definitely the pants. Outfit 1 is good and as CL says try the cobalt top but leave the topper on as otherwise it looks a bit too casual.

Yup definitely the pants and black sweater, and I prefer the next to last blue top with the the sweater on. For job interviews and business casual work wear, it's basically a good idea to do nothing sexy.

Ok, just going to be totally honest-- the first outfit is probably the most appropriate. I don't much care for the white ruffly top, the black skirt is cute but too short (ie sexy), as are the cobalt and other skirt. They are all nice outfits, but you want to look office-y, not out-for-drinks-y.

Number 1 here as well -- with the added suggestion to swap out the knit ruffled top -- if it's a knit, can't tell from the pics -- for something in a woven fabrication (i.e., something more like a shirt or blouse and less like tee shirt fabric.) It's a slightly more polished look.

As far as the skirt goes, remember that you might be seated across from your interviewer with no desk between you. I suspect this skirt would not pass the "sit down test."

I just had an interview last week and was advised to dress "business casual" as well. When I took a look around, people were definitely more dressed up vs. less. No skinny pants or jeans, no short skirts. No sexy materials. I saw mostly dress pants and blouse/cardigan or blouse/blazer combos (and this place was like 90% women)! For an interview, I would always lean towards dressing more conservatively.

If you live near the place you will be interviewing, you could drive over there and watch people come and go between the building and parking lot and see what they are wearing.

Katie, congrats! I was just going to chime in and add my voice for number 1. It's always best to dress a little more formally for an interview. Once you "feel out" the workplace, you will get a better idea of whether the other outfits are OK. What awesome news!
