Which long trench should I keep if any?

I'm still waiting for the Hobbs Saskia trench, which is short in comparison to the trenches in this post. The lavender Kate Spade and turquoise Tibi trenches have arrived and I tried them in comparison with the sky blue Lela Rose which most people felt was too large. I tried to locate an XS in the Lela Rose, but I had no luck.

The Kate Spade is a bit large in torso in the size small, but the sleeves are the perfect length. I am worried the sleeves on an XS will be too short.

I ordered the Tibi in both size S, and XS. The size charts indicate the S should be fit best but I prefer the fit of the XS. I didn't photograph the S because it was so ridiculously large.

All pics were taken with todays outfit which included a Veronica Beard blazer so I could tell how well they would layer over my clothing.

Which if any should I keep?

I like the Kate spade fit and color best on you, really lovely!

BUT , I am absolutely dying over your Veronica Beard blazer that I have had my eye on!

I like the first one which I think is the lavender Kate Spade.

It looks luxe, a good fit and I like it both done up and undone. I think this one looks fab on you.

I like the turquoise one best! The color is great and fit looks good too.

I also like the first one (is that the Kate spade?) closed but I feel like it might be slightly too big looking when open. Like the lapels might be a little big for your frame. It might help to button the sides back a la Burberry.

Number one has my vote. Tailored, great lavender (?) color, and unique touches of the plaid lapel collar. I love the belt knit and the way you looped the end.

I like the colour of the lilac Kate Spade best, but the fit of the blue Tibi best.

Taylor, I have three collars for the VB blazer, they exchange easily with zips on the sides and three small buttons on top. This is the first time I wore the hoodie collar. The others are dressier.

Sal, yes, the first pic is the Kate Spade. The second pic was my attempt to show how roomy it is in back, but it’s a bit blurry.

Diana, the turquoise Tibi is made of an oddly stiff feeling, very lightweight and seemingly strong material. It looks wrinkled, and came compressed into a tiny space in a small bag. I suspect it would be a great travel trench. I am worried that the Kate Spade is too large and I spoke with someone in the N.Y. store this evening who advised that I try the XS for comparison. They honored the original discount I had for the size S, so I ordered it to see if there is any difference. I agree with you that the Tibi fits me best. The turquoise is very bold in person, it would brighten a dreary day!

The VB is amazing on you. I’m going to pull the trigger . It’s as close to a Balmain as one can get as far as fit and look.
Wear it knowing you look amazing in it...just a beautiful fit.

CJH, I happened to see a video on Pinterest about tying trench coat belts yesterday and tried it out with the Kate Spade.

Angie, I agree that the color of the Kate Spade is lovely. I am glad I called the store to see if trying an XS makes sense. It is on the way!

Who knows the purpose of the extra belt that loops around the collar and then buttons down the front of the Tibi trench? Is it decorative? Is it practical? It is cumbersome when putting on and taking off the trench. Here is a closer view.....odd how my iPad camera cannot pick up the color of the trench as well as my phone.

Yes it might be a touch too big so I hope the smaller version works out.

This seems to be another case where US sizing is weird - you are tall and slim and elegant - but to be in an XS seems madness don't you think.....

I have to agree with Racy that they both look too big to me. I love the colors but compared to the VB blazer fit, they just look too big in the shoulder and overall. The VB blazer, on the other hand, is amazing!

I like 3,4,5 best on you for these, for both fit (the others look too big ) and color ( to my eye the others wash you out)

I’m with Rachy- these both seem to still overwhelm your figure. The Tibi fabric looks quite wrinkly, and I don’t like how the side seem puckers. Not sure if it would press out. I’ll be curious how the Hobbs Saskia fits you.

The turquoise looks best to me. But I’m concerned about the fit.

I think the length on the Hobbs Saskia will be interesting to compare with these.

I love the color of the turquoise on you. Wait until the Hobbs arrives, so we can compare. Finding the right trench takes time, it when you find the one meant for you, you will be so happy that you tired on many.

You are so tiny and to my eye these all sort of overwhelm little you. Have you considered a shorter trench? At the knee rather than below? You probably want to be able to wear with dresses too, hence longer, and I get that. Angie had a recent post with solutions for toppers with midis

AndiB, I am looking for two trenches, one that is long enough to wear over my dresses and one that is shorter. I attend events year round that require formal wear. I hate when the bottom of my dress gets ruined by rain when I have to walk between my car and the event venue. I live in a place with lots of wind and rain!

Joy, Bijou, and Julie, I love this color turquoise. My rehearsal dinner dress was close to this color, maybe a bit softer/lighter, and was my favorite dress ever. I worry that this is a little bold for me now with my silvery hair, but it is happy and I smiled as soon as I saw it in the box. I picked turquoise as my color for 2019.

Rachy and Jane, how could the Tibi fit be improved? Is it too long? Too wide? The sleeves too long? Maybe it’s the oversized styling with the shoulder seam deliberately not melting squarely at the shoulder?

Kathie, I am going to try to steam the Tibi by hanging it in the shower stall this morning. It’s a tech fabric of some sort and I am afraid to iron it or use my steamer. I think the seams are straight, but it’s wrinkled from sitting in a bag in a box. It folds into a very compact space, nice for travel except for the wrinkles!

Shevia, I think these designs are deliberately oversized. The Kate Spade model shows the shoulder seams going over her shoulders and down her arms instead of meeting at the shoulder. The same with the Tibi. I think it’s a matter of style choice, and maybe this is just not the best type of style for my frame......

Love the blazer outfit Of the raincoats I like the Tibi more-what a great color! Promise to buy something that color if you dont keep it! The KS is nice too, but would like the lapels a little narrower.

After seeing UmmLila's trench post, I am thinking perhaps her Alice and Olivia floral trench would be a good style on you as it does not have an oversized fit. It is available on farfetch - however the length may be too short for you to protect the hems of your dresses.

Bijou, I had a similar thought and saw no length measurements on the Farfetch website when I looked. It looks like it hits the model at or just below the knee, which would be shorter than my preference for a long trench. UPS delivered the Kate Spade in size XS today. The collar seems narrower, and it may be my imagination, but I think the fit looks more like that on the Kate Spade model....although the sleeves may be a touch short. I hope to get some pics to post of that soon....
