I'm attracted to a lot of different silhouettes, but realistically what flatters my body the most are 1) high rises (for me that's 10" rise, not higher, and not lower than 9") and 2) skinny jeans. I struggle with anything cropped. I love cropped flares and wide leg crops but find them stumpifying. I love a full length flare if it's slim in the thighs and knees, but find those difficult to find as I am just 5'0, and also there's the practicality as I live in a snowy climate. I love the look of distressed jeans with rips, but on me they just look silly and they're cold. I love release hems and have a couple of pairs but I'm short enough that they hit too long unless worn with heels, which I don't wear much these days. Raw hems... aren't so versatile for work though I think I could just cut my jeans to be the right length for me (haven't tried this yet). Also it ticks me off as I think this is just a way to cut manufacturing costs.
I am not much of a fan for boot cut. I never say never. But I think it's about when I "came of age" and first cared about jeans. That was in 7th grade, when overnight (summer between 6th and 7th) the fashion went from high rise bell bottom jeans to straight legs. Whereas bootcuts remind me of the personal "dark decade" in my life which for me was the 90s. I just have a lot of bad associations with anything 90s fashion, and that's because I was going through a personal dark time, no offense to the fashions!
