Hey girls I'm just wondering, which item do you spend most of your money on?

My top 5 is:

1. Shirts

2. Lipstick

3. Shoes (sneakers)

4. Food

5. Hairstyle

1. Housing/mortgage/ home maintenance
2. kids education/ tuition, room and board
3. car payments, repairs, gas and insurance
4. Food and entertainment (ie. Restaurants, movies and shows)
5. Healthcare/health insurance/medicine

6. Savings for retirement/emergency savings

7. Business expenses and utilities...ie. Phone, internet, heat and electricity, professional development and licensure, memberships in professional organizations

Wardrobe, cosmetics and hair come in fairly low on my list.

1. Fixed expenses of keeping a home going (no mortgage, however taxes, insurance, utilities)
2. fixed expenses of keeping a vehicle going
3. Groceries (4 adults)
4. sports and recreation (memberships, lessons, equipment...includes music and hobbies)

Clothing/fashion is 5-6% of take home income (pension - I’m retired)

I’m a budget fashionista, but I won’t compromise when it comes to footwear. Winter outerwear as well - a good winter coat is an investment piece.

In the clothing/ fashion area:
1. Boots
2. Coats and jackets
3. Winter wool sweaters
4. Pants and jeans
5. Shoes
Over all our list would look similar to Runcarla’s with #2 being medical and prescriptions.

Eliminating bills and necessities, it’s hard for me to say which category of fashion/grooming gets the most money thrown at it. I’d say, in no particular order, that I prioritize spending on:

1. Bras
2. Haircuts
3. Shoes
4. Coats/toppers
5. Pants/jeans

Those are the categories that I prioritize- not that I’m buying the most expensive of everything, though, and I do stalk items and shop sales. I don’t need any clothing right now, but those 5 areas are the bones of my wardrobe. I guess I should put on a shirt and underwear, too...

My biggest expenses are health care and taxes, I don't have a mortgage or rent, lucky me. When it comes to fashion, I spend the most on building my Rick Owens capsule. I have purchased a brown jacket and a brown skirt to add to my collection.

A pair of boots is probably the most money I’ve laid down on a single item, but the thing I buy most often is socks! I don’t get rid of old socks. I just buy more!

I am not sure if you mean everything in my budget or in my fashion/grooming budget. I set aside a certain amount of money each year to spend on my wardrobe and that includes gear, basics (bras, socks, undies), outerwear, footwear, etc. I buy the best quality I can and keep my wardrobe small. This works for me and may not for someone else.

Last year most of my budget went to:
1. Footwear
2. Outerwear
3. Jeans

This year I am not expecting to buy more outerwear but I will be buying more footwear and that is a big chunk of my budget.

Overall, most of my money goes toward paying down credit card debt. Currently, my actual living expenses are stupid cheap (under US$600/month for rent, water, electricity, sewer, trash pickup, phone/internet, and car insurance).

In the fashion arena:
1) shoes
2) pants
3) tops/sweaters
