I empathize with the struggle to decide. I was a chubby eight year old when I got my first eyeglasses, at fifteen I got contact lenses and I wear them daily. Because of a minor eye procedure I'll need to wear glasses at least for a while. It can be hard to decide which "self" feels better, for so many reasons, even to ourselves, so pitching a change to family and friends can be a real challenge.

So many sweet and thoughtful responses to your post and I'm supporting your decision, whatever you choose.

My guess was curly natural hair, and my style preference was for #2 the curly do. I'm surprised folks voted for the straighter styles.

My natural hair is curly, and I've straightened it twice in the past 6 months - otherwise I put in a curl enhancing product and let it air dry. My observation is that straight hair accentuates the vertical lines of my face (marionette lines) and curly hair distracts. It is fun to change it up, but styling with heat products is hard on hair and I'm trying to grow mine a little longer.

I don't colour, but I'm not judgey either. Some fabbers have given up colouring in the years since I've become a member - with stunningly beautiful results. I think it is easier for light haired folks to transition than for dark haired folks.

Below is an inspo pick that I think would look good straight or curly. You could also let the shorter back go natural (quickly) and keep colouring the front. You could also do some patently unreal colours through the long bang to keep it fun and funky.

I prefer the #2 and also agreed that your hair must be naturally wavy or curly to achieve that look. I have somewhat curly hair myself and always let it air dry but then touch it up with a huge curling wand. I don't like blow dryers unless I am in a really big hurry.

I like #2 personally because it looks natural and soft. I would be very curious myself to let it go it's natural color - but wonder how long it would take and if you would get some highlights to help ease the transition.

#1. sleek asymmetry.

for myself, i will be buried with my black 001 dyed hair. so you know how i would vote.

although i do appreciate those who go gray--you rebels.
