Which dress for work holiday party?

Which one do you prefer from these two? Purple peplum or LBD with waist detail?

This is for my company holiday party, held at a hotel. Dress code is cocktail.

I prefer the purple just because there will probably be a lot of black dresses and this will stand out. I think it's prettier with your coloring too.

They're both really nice looking but I think I vote purple! It's a bit different and also that's a very sophisticated, sleek, non-girly peplum, which makes it a bit special in my view.

I like the shape of #1, but the sleeve style is a deal breaker to my eye.

#2 has potential, although I'd still love to see a longer sleeve. The midriff detailing looks very pretty, and so do you.

I want you to try the lace midi dress you liked in the round-up.

I hear you on the bra thing.

I like the polka dot frock best of the lot. Please don't cover up. It's best un-layered. But you'll probably freeze.

I think either #1 or #2 is good. Both look great on you. I like both of them better than the polka-dot one. The first two seem a little more dressy or something.

Thanks, all. Party is in two weeks so I have some time to look around. I do like the LBD I posted above, though. It feels like me. Ideally I want a long sleeved LBD...

This is my first work holiday party at my first big girl job so I am very excited! And these are all straight sized dresses, which is making the search much more fun...

Tough call. The purple is a great color.
The dot is not party-ish but is excellent for work--would go with many toppers. Consider getting it for that!

I like the polka dot one on you a lot, but I see what you mean about it being a little business-y. Maybe festive accessories would make the difference, though. Do you have a bling-y black necklace and a bright clutch? And of course pretty heels will make it look dressier, too.

Second choice for me is the purple. The black is pretty, and it looks good on you, but it's a little too generic to me.

The purple peplum is a great color but I have a problem with where the sleeve cuts off also. If I choose that, I would add a topper like a sparkly cropped blazer or shrug.

The LBD is a keeper. There's nothing not to like and you can dress it up with accessories like a statement necklace or color-pop shoes.

I think the dot is too business.

First of all you look wonderful! Secondly I love the black and the polka dot one. Both could be very useful in your closet.
