Which color velvet jacket looks best for blondes?

After reading Angie's post "I've Got the J. Crew Bug," I started looking at velvet blazers and found these two, one from the blog and one from Macy's. Any color better for blondes? None of them? I don't want it to be a "fussy" velvet, but something wonderful and warm and rich in color, mainly.

J. Crew School Boy Blazer in Velvet. I was thinking of Olive Moss or Bristol Blue:

Vicki, those are all nice. I vote for Olive Moss for you.

But dang, why did I click? Now I'm lusting after the Dark Blossom J Crew one.

The olive moss is a beautiful color but it's not as rich as the burgundy. I feel the burgundy is going to contrast more with your hair and the olive moss will not stand out as much. Just depends what look you're going for.

I've seen the olive moss in person. Haven't seen the burgundy.

I vote blue! And not just because blue velvet makes me think of David Lynch (though that doesn't hurt). I think that color looks really rich with the texture.

To me it would depend not only on your hair color but even more on your skin tones and eye color for the best blazer color. If your eyes are brown or hazel, I vote that you try the olive moss

Oh! I can see you in that blue velvet jacket...so stunning! Have fun with this decision.

In the back of my mind, I can also see the always-elegant Catherine Deneuve in a black velvet jacket, with a classic white blouse that has a tasteful ruffle down the front, or perhaps the collar is a ruffle...just a lovely vision of the past. I know you will embrace the right color for YOU, once you see the choices in person.

Those are both great colours for you, Vicki! I have a slight preference for the Bristol Blue.

Blondes do differ, though. For my own wardrobe, I'd have selected the poppy.

Alas, this jacket is not in the stores and is strictly an online item! ;( I'm rethinking this and wondering if velvet is a necessary part of my wardrobe. Maybe not. Poppy? I did look at that, along with my other choices, because my default isn't always a pop of color, until more recently and having seen you in your glorious new coat, Angie, reminds me to open up to the color spectrum!

I've been eyeing the poppy blazer for a few weeks (I love color though--the brighter, the better). I think the color depends on your own coloring (cool or warm) and what will work best in your wardrobe. Let us know what you decide.

Also, I think if you order the jacket on the red phone in the store, the shipping might be free. I haven't done it in so long that I can't exactly remember, but it might be worth asking if you happen to be in the store. I know you can definitely return the item in the store if it doesn't work out, so you could order both colors and see which one was better, then return the other if you wanted.

My skin tone is right down the middle. I'm currently wearing a Chanel foundation called soft bisque and in the past have worn an ivory beige. Yes, too bad they don't have fabric swatches in the store! That's an EXCELLENT idea!

There are many colors that look good with blond hair, but imo, yellow and orange are not. These look best on brunettes.
