Which Color Sandals?

I'd love some input on my current shoe shopping dilemma. I want a pair of Frye Carlie Huarache sandals for this summer, but they come in so many delicious colors that I can't decide! I can only buy one pair, so no fair suggesting multiples.

I need to choose between the natural, yellow, and red. The natural is probably going to give me the most wear for my buck as far as "going with" the most outfits...but I do love spicy shoes!

My summer clothes are mostly airy, flowy, linen dresses and skirts. Lots of light colors. I tried on a dark brown pair today (the only color in the store) for fit, and decided that that particular color was not a good summer option for me. Waaaay too dark.

What say you?

I vote either yellow or red because I think that a "spicy" color, as you put it, would be a lot of fun for summer, but the colors available aren't so unusual that they would be hard to wear. I have a few pairs of red shoes and really use them like a "neutral" - there are few outfits that I wear that red won't go with!

Do you already have red sandals? I had a pair last summer, and they actually went with practically everything!

So I vote red, and I think you'll actually find it versatile!

Mmmmm. Red. I don't have *any* red shoes (gasp!), so I really appreciate the insight that it can be used as a neutral. It would certainly add a great pop to my summer dressing...

As much as I hate to not vote for spicy shoes (which I really love) I think the nude may be best, followed by yellow. If you wear lots of breezy, light colored clothes the nude would fit in nicely with them; red may be too bright especially if your light colors are more muted than bright. The yellow could work for both muted and bright light colors, but for a truly breezy look my vote is for nude.

I love the nude--I agree, it would probably give you the most bang for your buck, and I think nude shoes look sophisticated. Then in second place I'd say red! (I am now tempted to search out these sandals--love them!)

I'm with Aida here. I think red shoes are very nice and fresh BUT if you mostly wear light colours and pastels, they won't match your dresses. So I vote nude

I'd go with nude if these will be your basic pair to wear with everything.

I vote nude, it would be the most veratile and I consider Frye footwear investment pieces that last multiple seasons. A bright shoe may be fun, but one can tire of them faster.

I vote the red shoes too, I think you could pull them off fabulously and it would fit in with alot of your clothes! The yellow ones are quite beautiful, but I think you already found your perfect pair of yellow shoes?

I vote for yellow. They're a fun spicy color and will go with lots of other colors. I do like the red too but on Zappos they are shown with a dark wood sole rather than the light wood, and I think the light wood (like on the yellow and nude) is better for summer.

What did you think of the fit and comfort? I have been thinking about getting a pair as well, but was slightly worried about comfort... specifically, I have had Frye sandals in the past with very stiff leather that rubbed my little toes like crazy and never softened up. Did you find the wedge heel stable?

Red sandals are something I get a lot of use out of. I vote nude though. I'm on the hunt for a pair because I think they will go well with the longer hemlines.

I'm currently in love with yellow so I vote yellow. I find that adds punch to lots of my outfits. I have a lot of neutrals in my clothes so I like the additional pizzaz.

Thanks for the input, ladies. I'm going to browse my summer clothes (still tucked away due to typical Seattle spring weather /cry) and consider what will work with the most pieces.

@Diana - On initial try-on, they felt very comfortable. I tried on every platform wedge sandal at DSW, and found that with all of them the heel portion of the sole felt too narrow and unstable. Very irritating. With the Frye's, though they are also narrow, they were a bit more substantial and felt stable walking around the wee shoe store. The saleslady said that Frye leather stretches quite a bit, so it's best to buy them a teeny bit tight in the store (rather than fitting perfectly) because after wearing for awhile they'll stretch out. It sounds like you have not found that to be the case, though.

I had hoped that these Born wedges would work, but found them too wobbly for me...

I like the nude ones -- but for me. I would get the yellow or red -- both neutrals in my opinion -- based on what I've seen in your outfits to date. I think you have yellow wedges though, so that's repetitive. Red is a good neutral, but bolder. I don't see why you can't wear red with light or pastel-y colors too (it can lift them up a bit). ?: do you already have nude sandals? Maybe that's what you may need this time. If not needed, then go SPICY red!

Nude IS the shoe color of the season, but I'd go for red. For me, it's almost a neutral because I wear so much purple and teal.

I'm voting yellow. In my experience yellow goes with almost everything, but it's so much more fun than nude!

Can I ask the name of those Born sandals? They look like they might be leather-free from the photo, so I was interested in looking them up.

I would get both nude and yellow and decide on which looks better with your skin tone. (Send the other one back.)

As much as a love colorful shoes, the nude would be so great for summer/spring and go with everything! My uber practicle side always comes out!

I would base my decision on the color of the rest of your wardrobe. If most of your clothes are neutral colors, I think red would be a great way to add color. If you wear color in your clothing, i'd go for the nude ones. The nude ones would also be good for lengthening the leg.
