Which color for skirt?

I have to see if both colors are available in my store, but if they are - which color do you like better for me? I can't decide...

Yay - Grey
Nay - Navy

Which one draws you the most? I quite like both colours actually, though I thought you said you were sick of navy. Or is that no longer the case? Or perhaps this particular navy is not the sort you are sick of? At any rate, neither the grey nor the navy look too harsh so I really like them both for you as far as I can tell from your Scotland photos, but a clear photo of your face might help.

Thanks Sarah. I'm not sure, I don't think I have a preference. Both would work equally well with my wardrobe and colors. It's true that I was a bit fed up with navy after three weeks of wearing it a lot, but it's still a favourite neutral of mine. Just not head to toe like I wore it during our trip.

I vote navy. If it works, this skirt looks like it could last you a long time, therefore getting it in the preferred neutral is best. Plus, grey looks a bit too light to me - speaking as a pear who tries to choose carefully what kind of bright pieces will go at the bottom. Although, the weave reminds me of tweed, which I love.

Although, the more I think, the less I am certain. I am picturing navy skirt with those green and blue sweaters you have and I think they would both look fabulous with navy, but grey reminds me of tweed and I love tweed.

No help, am I Btw, I'd suggest considering which colour will work better with darker (winter) hose or boots.

I think both are versatile and work with almost anything so it really comes down to personal preference. I personally prefer navy right now but this isn't about me.

Both colors look like they would work out well for you. Maybe you could take a look at your tops and toppers that you want to wear with the skirt to see what works. Would your navy coat blend or clash with the navy of the skirt? Both grey and navy come in so many shades that they can be hard to wear together for mixing and matching.

Thanks Ornella! That's a good point, with not going too light with bottoms. I do think the skirt might be the perfect wardrobe basic, if it works out. I agree with you on the tweed feel of the grey one, I love that too. To me the grey looks more rugged while the navy skirt seems dressier. I can see the grey with boots and one of my cropped wool pullovers, I love the idea of that. But the navy might be easier to wear to a more fancy occasion as well as in everyday life (like with a lace top or something similar dressy). As for hose and boots, I think the grey might win out in that aspect. Maybe I should just get both (assuming they look good).

Thanks Joy! The pullovers or toppers that work with a skirt like this that I have at the moment work equally well with both colors. My fall coat is dark grey and not navy, but I need a new coat anyway. My denim jackets work with both colors and I wouldn't wear my navy utility jacket or my navy rain jacket with a skirt like this.

I vote gray just because the gray looks so richly textured and almost heathery, which I love, while the navy seems maybe a little flatter. But I do think the navy would be nice too.

Both colors would suit you, I think, but I prefer the grey. I like the texture and feel as though it softens the look a bit. The navy reads a little too businessy.

ETA: how amazing would this be with a tweedy or plaid riding jacket?!? Do you own one?

Thanks Aubergine and Diana! You're right that the grey seems to have more depth, I think I'm leaning towards the grey one right now. Diana, I hadn't thought about it but the navy really seems to read more businessy. I'll go have a look on my way home. And no, I don't have a riding jacket. But I might look into it, I could see a jacket like that working really well in my wardrobe in general.

I prefer the grey too and though I'm not sure what this would mix and match with in your wardrobe, I think the grey fabric is more interesting and would be generally more versatile.

I vote gray because I think it's more versatile and easier to dress up or down. I think navy can easily skew corporate or denim-ish. The navy is lovely though.

For skirts I'm very footwear and tights sensitive-- I want fall/ winter skirts to go very well with black or dark gray tights and the target footwear, and I match p summer skirts for nude hose and lighter footwear for leg line unless they're for dressy black footwear. . Some great finds work for both. Tops are considerations but not as tricky as the leg issues. I've realized I can be choosy in skirt colors and patterns so I require them to fit in this way.
this may not be a big gocus for you, but it could help you decide which color .

Thanks everyone. Just tried them and unfortunately this skirt doesn't work full stop. The pleats are much more prominent IRL than in the picture, not very flattering. Too bad, it looked so promising!
