Hi Ladies,

I'm in a bit of a conundrum. Let me tell you right away that this post is slightly complicated (I'm making it so!) and contains many images.

Let me present my case:

I bought a pair of new boots on Monday and I talked about them here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....-new-boots. I was planning to splurge on a gorgeous matching tan (cognac, for Americans) leather bag, but my husband beat me to it and already gave it to me as an early Christmas present.

I have to go out for a dinner party tomorrow night and I'd love to wear both new pieces. However, I have been enjoying my new 'uniform' of skirts + tights + boots a lot for its ease and proportions. I feel fab in these outfits and I'm also afraid that once it cools down further, I may not want to put in so much effort into dressing up and may fall back to cozier jeans and thick sweaters outfits. So I want to wear my skirts and enjoy this new-to-me look.

The problem - I don't have any skirt that works very well with brown/tan shades! I'm modeling the same outfit with different accessories for you here. I'm hoping that adding a brown coat may make it possible to wear this outfit with the new boots and new bag. Will it? However, it's possible that the hosts have room heaters, in which case I'm going to take off my coat.

To help you see why I'm so confused, I'm also modeling the outfit with black coat and boots so you can see how instantly cohesive the outfit is (and why I'm really confused). I've added pictures of the coats worn open too....though you really can't see much of my base outfit in either.

I don't understand color pairing very well. Because I'm partially colorblind, I don't have a clear understanding of colors and don't see how some colors work well together and some don't. I always feel more comfortable with a tonal look or pairing the same color with one accent as its safe. So I can't decide if the brown coat outfit even works. Does it?

Am I being foolish in wanting to use the bag & boots so much that I'm messing with an otherwise great outfit? (I really like the black outfit). I mean - I can always wear them with something else on some other day! Both will work with jeans, just not my skirts.

I'm also adding pictures of the bags since I almost always never remember to add them to my outfit photos (unless someone else clicks my photo). Bear in mind, I almost ALWAYS match my bag to my shoes.....again it may be because I don't like to play around with color.

If you've made it so far, could you please give me your opinion? I feel really really foolish writing this post (I mean, I have a good outfit with the black...why create confusion!) but I know you ladies are very patient and always so helpful.
