Which boots should I keep?

I ordered two pairs of Born boots. They’re both waterproof, slip on and dark grey, with lug soles. And very comfy. Also, I can wear my hiking socks with both of them.

On my feet, wearing boot cut jeans, they look the same, with rounded toes. Any thoughts on which pair I should keep?

1 might be easier to wear with other jean cuts.

Aren't Western boots sort of your thing? If so I vote #2, provided you don't already have something similar. I think they'd be fun to wear with skirts and tights -- a subtle western look

I own #1 in black and love them so much. Divine comfort. That said, would you wear the second ones so that the shafts are visible? That would be the deciding factor for me.

I can't say for you. Maybe show some pics with the boots on. But I do have an eye for #2 myself now, in gray too.
What is the lining like? Would these be good winter boots?

Alice, yes, that’s true.

Sarah, yes, I do love western boots, but these are pseudo western boots. But supremely comfy and waterproof. I was thinking I could tuck my pants in them if needed, if it’s a little snowy for example.

Christina, that means a lot, considering the problems you’ve had. They are so, so very comfy.

Taylor, I want to keep both, but that would be irresponsible, probably. I might be able to think of a good reason to keep both, given a little time.

Rosee, they seem to be lined with flannel. I don’t know how they would be for winter boots. If you live in Minnesota, probably not.

Thank you. Canada. Sometimes it's better in the winter sometimes it's worse, than Minnesota.

Rosee, they’re not insulated. I used Minnesota as an example because I look at their weather all the time since my son lives there. It’s far colder there than where I live in Northern Nevada. But it also depends on how much you’re outdoors. If you walk from your car to your office, then they might be okay. If you have to stand and wait for a bus, then maybe not.

Tough decision. I think the Chelsea boots would be easier to wear with pant legs over them. (And I like the Chelsea style with rolled cuffs worn just over the top of the boot or at the top--but I'm not sure how many jeans you would do that with.) But if you really want them to be an option for wearing in a few inches of snow, then the higher shaft style is more useful.

All else being equal, I am leaning toward #2 because of the longer, more fitted looking shaft to keep snow out when it is deep. Do you snow shoe? Does one fit better than the other on snow shoes?

I vote for 2. The taller shaft for wet, mucky conditions. And they’re super stylish and totally Now.

To wear with bootcuts, I would go with #1. I find the higher shaft harder to wear with jeans as sometimes the fabric can get caught up in a looser shaft boot. With #2, I would wear them with skinnies tucked into the boot, so you see the Western styling.

I vote for number 1, if you already have western boots, why get something else similar? I would get something different so you have another option when needed, plus it is often difficult to manage the fit of jeans over a higher shaft. The Chelsea boots would work for most weather except deeper snow. Even around here, where there is a lot of snow, I can get by with a shorter boot unless we have a storm. Snow gets shoveled, and sidewalks and parking lots plowed, and neither of these look like the type of boots to wear in deep snowy conditions, they would be the sort of boots to wear for fashion on an inclement weather day.

I think it depends on what you need them for and how tall the puddles generally are. With 2 your legs are better protected and 1 is more stylish.

I locethe look of 1. - simple, classic. I like the shaft height of 2 but I feel like it is the less versatile choice. Maybe it isn’t Western “enough”.

I think 1 would be my choice. Would be easier for pants, I think. If wanting higher for snow boots or wearing with skirts and dresses would send me to 2.

Thank you for your thoughts. I decided to keep both. I know, I’m kind of weak. I wore the western ones to the grocery store yesterday in the rain. I plan to wear the chelseas today to church, in the rain. I have a chocolate brown pair of Timberlands similar to 2 that I like except for the color. I’ve already packed them up for the homeless shelter.
