Which boots? Desperate, hyperventilating question

A couple of folks posted that LC were on sale on 6pm.com for $69, which I know is a fantastic price. I am now hyperventilating, because I feel I simply can not pass up a deal like this.

Unfortunately, I have never tried on this brand and am totally unfamiliar with fit, etc. Help! I don't quite know what to say my size is because I have 9, 9.5 & 10 in my closet. In Euro sizes I have 41 & 42 in the closet.

How do I know my calf size? I know they're not big. The calf circumference quoted on sites always seems be for an American size 6 shoe. I suspect mine is very average at ~13.5 for a size 9-10 shoe and 5'10" height. I imagine that the shaft circumference increases with the shoe size, but is that incorrect?

I have stilletto boots already. I don't like the look or feel of completely flat shoes, so I would like boots with something resembling a small heel.

I desperately want to take advantage of this sale. Is it today only? Tell me what to buy and what size and I'll just go on there and buy it!

Darn it - I forgot to mention another factor... I have a physical limitation that rules out pull on boots. I can't get them off without help and I don't always have help, so my boots have to have a zipper.

Poo. I suspect I may not be able to take advantage of the sale at all.

I would try the 9.5. I am generally a 9, occasionally a 9.5, and ordered a 9 and a 9.5 in the Passion style last year. (I tend to take a 40, maybe a 40.5, occasionally a 39.5 in euro sizes.) The 9 fit fine (plenty of room, even for a thick-ish sock), and was a bit smaller around in the calf than the 9.5 (my calves are 14" and the 9 only gapes a little). Your calf is a little narrow--calf circumference increases with shoe size, unfortunately, but some LCs have relatively narrow calf sizes anyway. I think it's probably worth a try if you can find something you like.

Jenny, I've only tried on LC's, never owned a pair but I waver between a 6.5 and a 7 and I definitely found the 7's to be more comfortable. My calf size is a little under 13" and most of the LC boots that I tried on were a good fit for me (but keep in mind that I wear a much smaller size). Generally, the shaft circumference definitely increases with size. I'm sorry, I'm not much help but thought I would bump this up for more input.

BTW, my local Marshalls had several LC models on sale this past winter and I saw quite a few on the clearance racks this past week!

I just had a look on the 6pm website but only see LC ankle boots on sale. Are you planning on getting knee-high ones or ankle boots?

Anyway, Shana and Dashrashi have good suggestions for sizing and I'm holding thumbs that you'll be able to snap up a pair of LC's today!!-)

Inge - I would love to get knee-high, but I'll settle for some weather-proof ankle boots. They still have to zip though. I've tried to get pull-style ankle boots on and off and can't do it.

Thanks for enlightening me Jenny, and I completely understand. In my experience, sometimes non-zip ankle boots are as difficult to get off as knee-high ones.

Thank you for your help YLF friends. The 6pm website really didn't have a lot of choices in the La Canadiennes in my size, and in fact, the one I wanted most was unavailable in a 9 or 9.5.

I bought it in both the 9 and the 9.5 since you pay one flat rate for shipping. Worst case scenario is that I hate them, return both and am out probably $10 or less. Best case scenario is that I love one and return the other, and pay $4 or $5 return shipping.

I can't wait for them to arrive!

You will love them Jenny! I'm sure of it. They are so practical, comfortable, well made, and beautiful. I am a HUGE LC fan. I want more LC boots now now now now! But they did not have any good styles in my size when the sale was on

I guess it isn't relevant now but I'm with Shana: I have a 6.5 and a 7 and both are comfortable but the 7's are better with warm socks.

Those look perfect for you, I have some LC boots and am also a big fan. Mine are flat, I do not know how you girls can walk in heels. My back starts to ache. It must be an age thing. I could probably do it when I was younger.

Anyway- good luck with the boots- I love your dramatic title of the post- we can all relate!
