Which bag to stalk?

I posted these bags before... The full price on these is deterring me right now but, IF these stay in stock until a sale, and IF they come into my price range, which one should I stalk?

The satchel seems like it would be more seasonless, but is it too small for me? The last pic is the same style on a 5'7" blogger, and I am 5'4". The handles also don't fit over the shoulder.

The tote fits over the shoulder and is larger, but I feel like the dainty straps might make it look to summery. It's also less secure.

Thoughts?

I like 1 better than 2, but they are both gorgeous. I do have a slight poison eye for tote bags, they look a bit like beach bags to me. Full disclosure.

I do like the tote, especially if it fits with your lifestyle. Once I got my Big Fossil Babe, I don't know how I ever did without one.

I vote for stalking the black and white striped bag & the white dress from pic 5.

Now, regarding the version... I usually pick bags that have more than one way to be carried so I can make the most of them, independent of the season/outfit/how heavy the bag actually is on day-to-day. I therefore vote for the version on pic 2. I don't think it's too big (but just to be sure, I'am a 5'0 and I find that bags up to 30cm width are manageable - fit the bill for electronics and all things one might carry and don't swallow me) and you can always dettach the straps and carry it like Ms. Blogger on pic 5.

I think that's what makes me think of 2 as a summer bag, Zap. Glad I'm not the only one.

I'd say the satchel has better proportions, more refined lines, materials look better. But the crossbody strap is awkward. The handles on the tote don't look that dainty to me in the pic, but I don't know about IRL.

I prefer the one in #3-4. I like the size better, and the fact that you can put it over your shoulder without an extra awkward strap. It also has a much sleeker line for carrying over your shoulder.

OTOH, if you want a true handbag, the first one is pretty and ladylike.

Interesting how the two bags have such a different feel! You list a number of good points but do you love one more? It almost sounds like you love the first one. I don't think it is too small. I agree with Rachy's points on it. I know that I myself have probably never in my life owned a bag that ladylike. It would be a fascinating vibe to put that princessy piece with your steampunk styles. Would you mind carrying it? Are you okay with the crossbody strap?

Also, since you mention security, that might be a big deal for you in favor of #1. Not just from thieves but if you treat bags like I do, things can fall out.

I love #2 as well. Lovely shape.

Personally I prefer #1, because it's stricter and more formal, which works with my style persona.

But for you, I prefer #3 and #4. It's slightly more relaxed shape works better with YOUR style persona.

My first thought was ooh I love the first one. Then I continued and saw the second one. I love them both but think the stripes work better on the second one and I like the strap length.

I love the first one best, but I think Angie has a good point about your style persona. I think the textured material keeps it from seeming too summery.

I like them both: which will work better for you lifestyle? My recent discovery was that doesn't matter how I like satchel bags they do not work for me fro work because they are too small

I love #1 more, if it doesn't look too small for my body. I have been carrying everything in hand lately and only put over my shoulder for a moment if there is a need. I suppose the long strap would work just as well for that purpose. Hm I guess it comes down to whether the size is functional...

Interesting that you see #2 as more my style, Angie. I will have to give that one more thought... It is less expensive!

I love them both - I mean OMG - LOVE! And, I tend to lean in your direction in that the 1st one is a bit more appealing to me - however, I totally "get" Angie's point - and if I were to get one for myself, I'd probably go with the tote as well - for the same reasons that Angie lists for you. Do they come in different colors? It looks like the blogger in the last pic is carrying a solid black one? What are these? Would you be willing to share the link?

I'm agonizing over a similar choice in a different color, between the larger and smaller tote. Even the larger tote is not big enough for what I need, so I was thinking I'd just get a bag and use the Tory Burch as the tote.

I love the shape of the satchel, and at least one review of the tote on Nordstrom said it doesn't stay closed, which would be a problem for me spilling stuff. I vote downsize your stuff and get the satchel - it's not too small for you at all proportionally.

Is the first one about the size of your green snake-y bag? If you know the size and it works for you, I'd get the smaller. I'm carrying my shorter handled bag 'in hand' a lot right now too.

If you have a true need for a tote (to carry lunch or extra shoes) then that's fine too. But I wouldn't get the larger bag unless you actually need the space. I actually see you moving away from a slouchy, beachy type bag, but I might be projecting (what I'm doing onto you).

Claire, you are not projecting at all! I have used my very structured and stiff Ted Baker bag more than any other bags this year. The striped satchel is a little bigger than my snake bag, a little smaller than the TB and map bag. So I guess that's not too bad after all...

Una, you'd probably laugh to see how little I carry in my bags. Everything fits into this tiny Zella makeup bag, but I like my purses to be larger to "fit" my sturdy figure better.

Rae, you are hardly sturdy! But that's how I feel about chunky shoes - I like boots to match my perceived size.
