Whereabouts of a certain cardigan

Is this cardigan available at H&M anymore? I'm guessing not but sometimes I get surprised. I found that polka dot dress at H&M several months after it made its debut and Thunalata managed to get me my coral trench, so who knows?

Is there anything similar you have found during your shopping adventures? I'm not married to the color, but I really want a cropped ruched sleeve cardi that isn't black. The Trouvé one was awful on me unfortunately so I"m back to square one.

Be aware that it is not knitted. It's a drapey, medium weight rayon knit, and I love it. The whole thing gets crumpled in a ball and tossed in my bag for hours on my way to work. Once I get there, I give it a shake, and the wrinkles just fall out. It's not too heavy and not too light. I have it in black but I am probably going to duplicate in spiced rose at some point. Just fyi...

Thanks Khris. That is both great and terrible. I won't be able to get to an H&M until Monday, so they'll probably be sold out (especially in my size), so boo clearance :(. But if I did manage to find one...then yay, clearance :)!

Maya - I can't help you with the first cardi, - but I also have the second one - and I'm not sure about it. I love the fabric, but I'm afraid it might be a little too long/too much volume for me.

I don't want to hijack your thread - but I'd love your feedback. Is it too caftan-like? (I feel a bit Bea Arthur-ish ("The Golden Girls.")

First of all, Bea Arthur is my hero and Dorothy Zbornak is my favorite Golden Girl. I mean it. She has been featured as my iphone wallpaper since 2008. I mean, I'm not sure if you should be asking me, since I am clearly biased towards both the cardigan and Bea. I think it looks great. I like this cardigan because it drapes so nicely on virtually any body type, yours included.

I thought I had seen a few of those ruched-sleeve, strong-shoulder cardigans when Mae and I were at H&M last week, so it's definitely still worth a look. If I see one elsewhere, I'll let you know.

And Tara, I love that cascading cardigan on you! Not dissing Bea Arthur, but I don't think it makes you look anything like a Golden Girl.

I would say Bea Arthur was really ahead of her times. Everything she wore is in style now! The flat slouchy boots, the slouchy bag, the long cardigan over long shirt. If there are two words to describe her GG wardrobe, they would be long and slouchy. Oh, and she also had those fabulous gold Chanel earrings. Even her super wide leg palazzo pants are coming back.

Granted, wearing these items all at once is probably her downfall, and one must wonder how she survived living in Miami in at least 5 layers and suede boots at any given time.

Blanche is quite the trendsetter as well. She always had those slouchy pants pooling over her dainty little pumps and sandals.

Way to open a can of worms, Tara.

April, just the words "heathered oatmeal" makes me want to vomit. It sounds like what happens when oatmeal goes bad.

Tara, I love that cardigan on you...I am in full support of Golden Girls, they were regulars around here when my daughter lived at home...but this one isn't as long as Bea used to wear:)

Oh yes. Taylor, I wish I had bought that turtleneck too It would have looked so great layered underneath a sleeveless sheath dress. But at the time I thought I couldn't wear t-necks. Sigh.

I'm no help with the H&M cardi, but thanks for the other cardi tip. I think I'll check it out next Nordies trip. I appreciate when someone shares their successful experiences.

Oh, and weren't Bea Arthur's vests below the knee? I sometimes felt Bea-like in certain Eileen FIsher pieces. . . :-\

Happy to have a look for you in London. I was in H&M yesterday and there were some knit jackets rather than cardigans with rouched sleeves, I ummed and arred a little and decided that the sleeves were too short.

Maya, I noticed that Bea always kept her sleeve at the elbow...a little odd.

I have a similar jersey knit cardi in pale pink. The color is a bit hard to pull off, but the cardi itself is amazingly comfy and great for Summer.

I'll keep by eye out for your ruched, cropped cardi. I wonder if BP. would be a good place to prowl.

I love the Golden Girls, and I'm even old enough to have watched "Maude!" Bea Arthur played some very important female characters, and was a fabulous, strong presence.

However, having said that - I'm not ready to dress like I'm living in a condo in Boca and playing Mahjong with the girls on Wednesday nights!

I love Maude! I did not exist yet when it was originally on but you can bet I saw reruns...

I checked H&M today and saw a rack of ruched sleeve cardis. But the colors were so awful. The babiest of baby pinks, oatmeal, heather gray, navy blue, and black. I am so glad I'm not going to be doing much more clothes shopping because I can't deal with these colors anymore

As someone who *was* around during the Maude era, here is my question about Bea Arthur: she was so unswerving in her devotion to the long-vest look that I now wonder, what figure quirk was she adjusting for?

Maya - now I think about it I passed a stack of cardigans (will have to check the sleeves) in H&M the other day and there was a really lovely dark purple colour. Also, I have during summer seen Angie's one in a coral similar to the trench that you bought.
