Where to look for stylish gear? I'm searching for a new backpack

My current everyday backpack is fairly battered and has some holes in it and I think it needs to be replaced in the near future. I've been using it regularly for the last six years, so it did held up well. I definitely want another backpack, not a messenger bag. I have enough bags, but they aren't as practical in some situations. The new backpack needs to be big enough to carry quite a bit of stuff and it would be great if it were waterproof or at least water-repellent.

Do you have any ideas where I could find something that's a bit more stylish? Or should I just go for something similar to my old one?

What size do you need? I find MEC had a lot

Thanks for the links! I'm definitely looking for an everyday daypack. Not that big, but big enough to lug a ring binder and books around, plus a big water bottle and all kinds of stuff.

if you are looking for color as well as function, i think the north face has great backpacks, as does patagonia.

i have the the north face recon, and it holds a ton, and is comfortable if you are actually carrying it as a pack.

for a european brand that is more affordable than moncler, i like quechua. seem to have outfitted every spaniard i run into in my travels.

On our last trip to Denmark, I saw some gorgeous backpacks by a company called Mismo.

I fell in love with another backpack at a little shop called "Much and Little" in Vancouver. The bag was made by a company in Portland, Oregon called Vanport Outfitters:

Both are pricey, but IMO gorgeous. I figure that if other women can spend $$$ on designer "It" bags, I'd put my money on one of these babies--stylish, yet so practical.

Thanks Lyn! This one looks nice, I love plaid. The only problem I see would be with the fabric, I need something that is at least water-repellent. I always use an umbrella, but the backpack gets clammy all the same and I often carry around library books for work that have to stay dry.

Thanks bj1111! I didn't know that brand, they have great prices. We also have Decathlon here, I had a look on the German site.

Gaylene, I love that first backpack! The blue/black/taupe one is to die for. But so expensive... Although I agree that you can invest in one of these if you have the money for it, I would totally do it. The second one is lovely too!
