Where to find great belts?

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find great belts, especially out of the ordinary colors?

JCrew? I have a mint green skinny belt, a muted gold belt and a navy vintage leather belt from them. Love!

I like Target for belts, especially since they have the larger sizes in store (XL and 2XL). Not always the highest quality leather, but good for cheap and cheerful. I also find that belts are one of the things that are good to find at the thrift store, since like heels I think a lot of folks buy them with great intentions and then never wear them much.

I second Laura on Target (lots of color variety) and thrift for interesting and unusual ones.

Are you looking for long-wearing pants belts? Or cheerful, but might not need to be durable dress belts? What colors are you looking for?

Well I ordered a reversible Tory Burch belt from NAS that was a wonderful royal blue on one side and white on the other. But then I realized it was pricy because I was paying for two belts and I don't really need a white belt.

So I guess I'm looking fro a bright blue belt but would love citron, aqua and gray as well.

I totally love Target for my cheap, disposable, fun colored belt. So little commitment! So much fun! I love J Crew for belts that I plan to wear for a longer span. Theirs are great quality. Plus, they often go on sale and you can pick them up in store with an extra 40% off sale if you stalk them.

Some of the larger Macy's have scads of belts of all different colors and widths. They run the price range of cheap to expensive.

It depends on what style you're looking for. One of my favorite belts came from Zappos; they have a variety of styles. I've gotten two other favorites in the men's department at Nordstrom.

Lucky, Fossil, and Sundance are good places if you're into a little bit of boho style.

I echo Lucky for the sturdy, leather belts - some are more boho and some are a bit restrained.

For classic belts that are good quality, I'd look at catalog retailers like Lands' End or Talbots, or on the practical workwear end, Duluth Trading.

What about a "design your own" belt from belts.com? You can get a buckle or two, then pick straps in various colors that can be changed out in 10 seconds. When I was in Paris last month, I found a store that worked this way. I got one buckle and two straps. Love it! I discovered belts.com the other day when I was looking for a strap to replace a worn one attached to a buckle I love. I was distressed at having to lose the whole belt. Now I can keep the buckle and just change the strap. They have some suede straps in pretty colors at the bottom of this page:

ETA: VERY important to read their instructions for measuring strap length. I would have done it wrong.
