My Clinique Happy is always in the little giveaway bags you get with minimum purchase this time of year. Perhaps there are other brands at the perfume counter with similar sizes. And if you are not in a hurry, eBay has these all day all night.

How about asking for small sample sizes at the department store perfume counters? Or e-mail the company of your favorite scent and ask them. They might just send you some.

A family friend works for Estee Lauder and she's always handing out samples of everything, like the "free with purchase" stuff you see advertised all the time. Since I don't typically wear makeup or perfume that stuff sees me though the occasional times they're needed.

Up here The Bay will always give out sample sizes at their fragrance counters without a purchase. Perhaps they do something similar there?

Unfortunately I have become addicted to a prohibitively expensive designer fragrance now...

There's *always* minis of approx 5-12 ml. Often they're dabbers, not spray application though.

You could always decant, or purchase from a decanting website (they make up decants of various sizes and have huge inventory of scents) like http://theperfumedcourt.com/

There are others too.

Luckyscent will sell you sample sizes as well - all niche scents though.

The Christmas sampler packs are a good bet for small sizes, and you can give away the ones you don't like as stocking stuffers.

Or if you are just trying to find some cologne you like, I agree that the salespeople at any perfume counter will be glad to give you samples.

In the meantime - what fragrance are you looking for? Some brands have wonderful travel sizes that you can buy. For example, you can get Stella cologne in a roller-ball format:

In terms of free samples - you can get these at just about any department store makeup counter - just ask for a sample of your favourite cologne. If you're lucky, it'll be in a teensy little spray bottle attached to a card, perfect for travel.

If you can't find samples, I am pretty sure that you can buy travel-friendly sizes of just about any scent.

eta: I'm pretty confident (99%) that you can buy a small-ish/travel size of just about any fragrance on the market, so the main thing is to find something that you love, and then get the small/travel size and see how you do.

Nordstrom just gave me a sample of Burberry Body and has given me lots of others. And I get little tubes of stuff from Sephora as free samples too. And you can buy them on e-bay (you probably know that) in tiny amounts as well, if it's a reputable seller.

You can buy coffrets, ie little packs of 5 designer e de t at the airport duty-free store: Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and many more.
Yep, just googled this and they are called miniature or mini coffrets. Looks like you can only buy them in flight or at the duty- free store. But, as you're travelling...?

If you're in NYC, there's bound to be some discount perfume stores near the tourist areas. They usually have very good prices on perfumes and have different sizes available. It's worth a try. There are some places around here, I've gotten perfumes for close to half of department store prices. Search Amazon too if you're at home, they have everything. You could also get one of those perfume roll-ons, they are nice and small and ~$20.
